Anyone who's used both EazyTamp and The Great Leveller care to comment further on this topic?

I realise I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but how hard is it to produce a level tamp?

Don't you just spread your fingers around the edge of the basket/tamper while pressing down to gauge it's level? That's all I do. Seems to work fine.

I've been playing with one of these over the last few days and given a choice, I'd have it over the Leveller...

Works well and it's infinitely adjustable for height. They are 58.5mm

In complete agreement with you on this MrFF, simple and very effective.

However I can certainly see a use for these devices if dexterity is a problem.

It's a good idea, but it doesn't address the cause (IMO) of most non-level tamps, which is uneven distribution.
I've been using an OCD for the last few weeks (definitely made my workflow easier - and more consistent) and you almost have to try to tamp crooked.

I'd think someone like Rick (aka site sponsor The Coffee Machinist) could turn one down for you. You'd just need to verify sufficient edge so as to be certain it would still function as designed.

Interesting, the assumption seems to be that you will use precisely the same dose and grind setting every shot.

Or you could use this one, it doesn't matter how much coffee is in the basket. https://www.kafatek.com/index.php/le...presso-tamper/

As everyone experiences from time to time leveling the coffee bed in the basket can be a challenge.
Pretty broad statement Logga, I don't find leveling the dose challenging in the least, it's a skill most people acquire very quickly.

                              Just trying an edit!
