If it is a machine that comes with the "export" market (ie outside of Italy) deep commercial filters (like most well spec'd commercial machine's), then there is nothing wrong with them. For a good example of std issue filters that should be changed out, it's easy to think of the italian market (shallow) filters supplied with Rancilio Silvia. Due to our larger cuppas and different style of beans used (to Italian market), those std issue filters certainly do benefit to a change to the deeper commercial type already mentioned.Otherwise, I think posts # 3 and 4 above are pretty much on the money !
