kyeba,
except the filter, all parts (non return valve, clear beverage hose, worm drive clamps male/female joiners) were all sourced from that big retailer (with a B).
Smaller plumbing stores would have suitable fittings, although not the economically priced PVC non return valve.
Below is my work staff room supply /return arrangement, cheap and it works really well!
Bucket is on floor with a two litre milk bottle collecting waste, easy to maintain and hidden behind espresso machines.

Are plumbing shops the best place to get hoses and a check valve for water container plumbed setups? Or does bunnings have what you need?

Yep...
Eccentric vane pumps do NOT like to run dry, it will kill the pump whereas check valves are very cheap insurance, as mentioned by Mick above...

It's generally best/safest to use a non-return valve if you're drawing from bottles with a rotary pump.

Hey Mate,
I use a commercial machine at home. The rotary pump is enough to suck water out of a bottle.
I have the machine set up on a buffet with 2 x 20L water containers. 1 for water and 1 for waste.

Hello there,
My staff room at work (school) have two commercial HX machines and one small automatic espresso coffee machines, both HX machines draw water from a twenty litre bucket.
Both machines have standard rotary pumps (Bezzera external,Boema is internal),drawing sufficent water is never a problem, bezzera is five litre boiler while the Boema is three litre.
Both machines are effectively manual units although the Bezzera has a timer style volumetric option ,both work without issues.
I use only rainwater ,supplied from home...every so often I cart esky's of tank water and recharge the bucket.
In your rented place ,something similar could work fine.
Cheer's,
mick.
I have one PVC non return valve per line per machine (except the auto),these are cheap as chips, about $9.00 ea and work so effectively, not sensible to purchase those brass fancy valves IMHO.....!
Cheer's again,
Mick.

I've been running a cimbali junior with a flojet pump for a year and it works well.

Howdy,Originally posted by Jrivers View PostHi Guys,
I am currently looking into upgrading my home machine and a couple of my mates have old commercial machines that they have plumbed in at home.
I am renting and do not have the space in the kitchen to plumb a machine in.
Is plumbing the machine in the only option? Have people tried other things with old commercial machines?
Would be very interested to hear what people have done.
Thanks
Lots of good info here;
Rotary pump drawing from a reservoir (water tank / bucket) - Home-Barista.com
In short, there are options and many rotary pump machines don't need line pressure and can draw from a reservoir.
