Re: Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
Were having the spurting seal problem here at work with a 3 month old EM3600. Unfortunately, weve got the handle locked on as tight as itll go. Nothing comes out for a bit, maybe a few drops, then *POP* and theres coffee coming out of the right places, as well as water spewing over the sides, and grounds along with it. I reset the seal and gave the filter a clean out two days ago, but its back to its old tricks. It happens with all grades of grind as well, not just stuff thats probably too fine.
If anyone knows of any other quick fix (other than a good, thorough clean), that would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
Thanks for the tip on the Adelaide Service Centre. I called Krups in Sydney and they had no idea, I called Adelaide on a Wednesday and by Friday I had the single and double single floor Krups baskets which I both fit my Breville 800 (although the single one will fall out when you empty the group in your bang bang - no matter, the double works perfectly)

Re: Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
Hi guys,
I had the same problem, some of you are having with my Sunbeam Cafe Espresso. But I use the standard sunbeam baskets.
After having two Sunbeams replaced, and advised the second Sunbeam had a cracked Group head from possible being tighten too much! So with my third Sunbeam, I was conscious not too tighten the handle too much.
But... and this is what I hope will be helpful and confirm what Pande said, I was told my problem with water going out around the sides of the basket (and the coffee not coming through the basket) was because I did not have the handle locked in tight enough! So I muscled it around tighter and it now works no problem. Sunbeam advise me that the group head seals go through a wearing in process. And therefore if the handle is not locked in tight enough, there is then not enough pressure and I would have the problems - just like you guys.
Hope that helps
Chris

I never ordered another basket, I ended buying a Bialetta 3-cup Moka pot for about $12 extra than the basket was going to cost, I am using the Sunbeam Ristretto for steaming milk only. I must say I am enjoying the coffee at the moment, so for an extra $12 I am probably making as good if not better cup of coffee plus I now have a travel companion. Maybe ill order another basket and compare the two.

The only place I know of is from a Krups Service Centre, I just happen to have an excel spreadsheet that Krups sent me. They will more than likely need to order one in. I hope you have more luck than me, I called one near Melbourne 3 weeks ago and didnt hear back, when I called them last week they couldnt even tell me if they ordered it.Originally posted by Kopi_O link=1182147203/0#7 date=1189127241Say Hello to all the members

Re: Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
vicroamer, what gasket exactly did you use? im having the same problem with my cafe roma (leaky gasket) and ive read that once the gasket goes its a piece of junk -- sounds like you may have crafted a solution...Originally posted by vicroamer link=1182147203/0#1 date=1182149590Same thing happened when I used the Krups basket in my Cafe Roma with a new gasket to boot, I modded an original and that held the pressure better.

Thats good to know mate. I might one day get this for mine. I take it with me away on holls etc and its a little ripper of a machine.
Cheers

Re: Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
Just as an update, putting handle on more tightly works!
Crema seems good and there isnt leakage at the moment.
So, seems like this is a good solution with the Krups double basket - not sure of the consequences on the gasket from this, I cant foresee any problems though.
Ps The single Krups basket just falls out of the handle, so dont get it.

Re: Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
I have this problem too (received the Krups basket yesterday) :/
I bought the emo450 / ristretto dream combo for my 30th bday present. I am having a lot of fun with it, hopefully can find a solution to this and get the real crema! NEED REAL CREMA.
I thought maybe wrenching the handle more tightly might do the trick... must continue experimentations. Work/life is getting in the way of such important matters as this.

Re: Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
Im not familiar with the machine but maybe its possible to shim the Group Gasket towards the PortaFilter and restore the seal back to its original integrity :-?....

Sunbeam Ristretto seal replacement?
Hi,
finally replaced the standard Sunbeam baskets with the Krups non-pressurised baskets.
Now find that seal is spurting water whenever I try to pour a shot. never happened with the Sunbeam baskets. Is this just a sign that I need a new seal?
The Krups baskets seem a little thinner around the lip (which has a raised rim on the Sunbeams).
New seal a likely fix? Should I replace it wit some other sort?
Any suggestions?
cheers
