Re: krups filter basket for breville cafe roma
Unfortunately, the Solis 166 WILL wear rather quickly (the upper burr carrier mounts get all loose and sloppy) when dialled down for proper espresso.
As for the baskets, you can buy a spare from any Sunbeam/Breville repair shop for about $10 and just use a dremel or angle grinder to remove the lower base. But leave a small amount of metal around the edge and press that back into the inner base or else the inner base may blow off (its only pressed in).

Re: krups filter basket for breville cafe roma
Hi dweeby,
and welcome to coffee snobs!
Cant help with where to source the krups filter baskets, except possibly try krups service centre.
However there are a couple of other options with the filter baskets....
When I had my Breville, I was lucky enough to get a non pressurised double basket from my neighbour, who had the Breville steam machine, cant remember the model name now, but that one also fits, and works quite well.
Also, I managed to cut off the pressure enhancing single hole bit from my original filter basket,
I did it manually, and it looked a bit rough compared to some who have done it in a lathe, but it can be done with care.
Good luck
Regards

krups filter basket for breville cafe roma
Hi Everyone!
Ah, my first post! I can feel my coffee snob powers increasing by the minute!
For anyone whos interested, I own a Breville Cafe Roma (Groovey chilli Red stainless steel edition) and a Solis 166 (Delonghi) grinder.
Thanks to the people who have explained that I can get a much better espresso if I order some krups filter baskets and throw my dodgy breville "Crema enhancing" double filters over the back fence...
I have located the part numbers (double: 0907163, single: 0925592, for anyone who cant find the other discussion thread - took me a while!), but I still cant find the name or number of the retailer that can deliver these both for the famous $12.
Can anyone who has ordered them successfully for this bargain price please let me know?
I would be most appreciative...
Thanks also to the people who explained that the burr grinders can have their range adjusted (and sometimes are not what they should be). Mine is currently being inspected (and hopefully adjusted!)... I resisted the urge to do it myself whilst it was still under waranty...
Cheers fellow coffee snobs!Tags: None
