  • OPV after a vibrating pump

I am interested to know if I put an OPV after a vibrating pump and set it to 9 -10 bar would the flow be constant (linear) if pressure before the OPV is greater than the 9-10 bar it is set at.

Once the pump ramps up to full pressure (a few seconds) then yes, the OPV will drain the excess pressure and a constant pressure will be applied to the group head.

This is how all mid/high end machines with vibe pumps regulate pressure.

Thanks. I can see that in a commercial or heavy use situation a rotary would go the extra mile but would I be right to say then that a vibration pump with an OPV in a domestic machine will give me same results as a rotary pump both set to 9 - 10 bar and making a few coffees each morning.
