I know this is from a while ago, but the issue of water filters and scale just keeps coming back for me because of the scale in our local water. I use the filtered water from our fridge, but it's clear from the residues around the fridge tap, there is still a fair bit of mineral content, so I thought I should share my no-expense-spared softener filter from last year.

My daughter has my hand-me-down Sunbeam 6910 and I just replace the resin in her cartridge every couple of months. I think the bag of resin has been money well-spent.

That is a shame! Still recommend them all the same. Super friendly, helpful staff and when my filter came with a broken connection they sent out a replacement no questions asked straight away.Originally posted by Dimal View PostAlas, no longer...
But they are a highly reputable firm to deal with and are highly recommended.

I have yet to plumb my machine in yet but did a simple "under the laundry sink" connection with a Bombora filter, associated tubing and pressure limiting valve. I fill up a water bottle every couple of days and top the machine up.
I checked the mushroom after about 6 months and it had no scale at all.

Bombora are amazing. Out of interest, where are you from? May be helpful in diagnosing your water problem.

I was in a similar position, wasn't able to instal below bench etc. I solved this problem by buying a portable 3 filter set-up with a sediment filter, silver/carbon filter and water softening cartridge which I connect to a garden tap and fill some large water bucket containers with airtight lids for filling the espresso machine. I flush out the resin filter with salt every four weeks and change the other two filters annually.

Water filtration for espresso machine recommendations
G'day,
Researching the topic of water filtration is overwhelming.
Are there any experts here that can give some recommendations?
I live in rentals and can't do any adaptations to the plumbing here and use the tank in my Rocket r58 to feed the machine.
I use an aqua pro benchtops filter, but I'm wondering if there are better systems out there that don't require plumbing into the mains water?
Also I heard about resin water filters that can be put into the tank of the espresso machine, but also heard they don't fit in the rocket tanks. Does anyone know about this or similar alternatives that work well?
Thanks in advance.Tags: None
