I have those as well, but I found the static electricity a bit of an issue, especially when trying to "de-clump". Cleaning made it worse!

I find the Tiamo a little easier to handle too. (Oh and yes it is nice and shiny)

I now use a snack tub to do a rough check of the water temp. The tub fits nicely in the naked porta-filter. I punched a hole through the side of the tub for the temperature probe, along with a hole in the bottom of the tub to slowly let water out. Not quite the high tech version but it gives me some guidance.

EDIT: Just checked - I bought my Tiamo in June from sponsor Coffee Parts. It was on special for $15.90 (plus delivery) then. It has gone up a lot since then.

So, it seems Aus post have their priorities right.

Very specialised piece of equipment for work that I need ASAP, order from my supplier - delivery notification on Saturday ( over a week after it was shipped from Melbourne to Sydney) whilst at the job site, and have already paid triple the price for an inferior version so I could do the job.

Tiamo dosing cups, ordered Thursday, delivery notification Sunday.

    I kid not.

I’m joking but for some of us we have to keep our ‘coffee corner’ within the bounds of ‘aesthetically acceptable’ for the purposes of ‘continued domestic acceptance’...... its the only way we can continue to get away with it without being banished to the shed...

Impressive - was it Aus post? They have a parcel of mine sitting at the Alexandria warehouse (about a 5 minute drive from my home), and it's been sitting there "awaiting delivery" for 4 days now...

I do something similar Barry, using an appropriately sized clear tumbler I bought for the princely sum of 10 cents from a local second hand shop.

    Yep.

Just a simpler way to do the same thing. Close fit into filter basket with flange covering edge gap (no mess). Place portafilter/basket over cup and up-end. Ideal for single dose weighing before/after grinding, especially with low retention grinders. A nice to have at $15.95 shipped but at normal pricing, I have passed on it previously.

Run out of stock? Fancy that!

Did they mention the sudden run on the Tiamos?
