  • Pesado Tamper & Basket

    Morning All,

I recently purchased a Pesado 58.5 basket and tamper from site sponser coffeeparts. I've noticed the tamper, whilst being a fairly snug fit with the basket, still has a slight gap around the edge, therefore not creating the greatest seal on the puck.

I'm seeing a fair bit of channeling coming from the edges when using the naked portafilter.

Any suggestions on how to combat this?

Usually a combination of dose / grind being too high / too fine for the machine / basket / coffee in use. The water is simply taking the path of least resistance.

It wont have anything to do with the tamper not being NASA grade perfect fit.

If your dose is right up near the brew head try dropping 1 - 2g and see what happens. If the flow is improved adjust grind to taste.

Vice versa If your dose is already quite low / grind quite fine.
