Re: Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
Hi Greg,
The hew spring is fine; the basket hasnt fallen out (seems to be held in place quite nicely) and its not too difficult to pull the basket out when i want to. I havent bothered trying the ridgeless basket with the old spring though. Im loving tamping without the obstruction of the LM ridge (i was previously using LM ridged).

Re: Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
Great to hear! They make such a difference dont they? Ive actually been using the ridged basket for the last week or so (my ridgeless was buried in a pile of dishes for a few days!) and even that has been very impressive, much better than the standard Silvia ones and the ridge isnt anywhere near as severe so pucks still come out well. Did you find the spring better than the original one?
Greg

Re: Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
Hi Greg and Robin,
Got my Synesso Baskets in the mail yesterday (didnt pick them up til today) and they were great fun to use; puck came out beautifully clean, tamping felt great (especially without a big ridge there for the tamper to get stuck on). Thanks for your help!

Re: Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
hey Greg, thanks for sending up the basket. did you get my email?
I prettmy much just said that ive pulled a few shots and it seems to perform nicely. The tamp you made me a couple of years ago for a LM basket is a perfect fit. Havent really put the basket through its paces yet. Ive been using a triple basket for a while, so Im having to readjust.

Re: Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
Marc,
Yep, the Synesso baskets will fit E61 PFs no problem......
Now have I got a deal for you!
I can supply Synesso baskets which will take the same size tamper as the Sunbeam baskets..... so you can use the Synessos in the Sunbeam or if they dont fit properly - just use the supplied Pullman tamper with the Sunbeam baskets....
That way you can have the best of both worlds!
Robin.

Re: Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
Robin,
Thanks for your reply - I should clear up when Im planning. Im hoping the Synesso baskets would fit the Sunbeam so that WHEN I get a E61 machine, I can keep the Pullman - I assume the Synesso baskets fit E61 PFs?

Re: Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
Sammy,
Im not sure you will have much luck sourcing Synesso baskets elsewhere.... best of luck - but one thing you need to be aware of is the baskets are larger diameter than most "nominal" 58mm baskets.... so a standard tamper (or one of ours designed for the Silvia) wont be a good fit.
If you have a Pullman tamper which was made for Silvia baskets - and they were at the top end of the size range..... it would probably be a reasonable fit.... but a standard 58mm tamper wont be......
MarcS,
The baskets shipped with the Sunbeam are fine..... the Sunbeam PF wont take most commercial baskets (certainly LM baskets wont fit many of the Sunbeam PFs...). There seems to be a fair variation in PF size.... but the basket size is far more reliable.
Just get a tamper to fit your Sunbeam baskets.... and you dont even need to send them as the size is very consistent - so we can make your tamper from the size in the database.
Robin.

Synesso Filterbaskets in Sydney
Hello!
(Not sure if im putting this post in the correct location, so sorry if ive done it wrong)
Does anyone know where i can get a Synesso double ridgeless filterbasket from in Sydney. Ive tried coffeeparts (down the road from where i live) but they dont have them and DiBartoli dont either. Im about to buy one from Pullman Tampers, but id rather avoid the postage costs (nearly the same amount of $ as the basket itself). Anyone know? If not then Pullman it is.
Thanks!
