Why cant sellers over there be upfront with descriptions, here I am a bit keen on a machine ending in a few hours but notice something amiss with one of the pictures, a missing trim panel, with a bit of research I find the panel is actually the trim of the drip tray, so I ask the seller and find out he has never had the drip tray, as if he didnt know that to start with > I am keen on getting this thing but locating a drip tray for a 20 year old machine would be damn difficult, damn >

The Bay of Evils is not the best place to fins a coffee machine bargain.
Unless its local so you can inspect it (preferably running) I think its too risky.

My son works for an auction house that moves many machines but he has no idea of whether or not they work.

Occasionally they will conduct an auction on site when liquidating a cafe but those situations are not common and I dont think theyd like punters playing with the lots in case they dmaged them.

If you are able to al least inspect a machine externaly, the best I think you can hope for is a bargain on price in case theres al ot of work to do on it.

You are fortunate TG to have such a contact, unfortunately due to work commitments I cant get around, and have no contacts in the old espresso machine trade.
Theres always the possibility of fabricating one yourself.
Thought of that Ray but the front was a stainless panel shaped to suit machine, I think it is a case of locating one from a wrecked machine but without contacts in the trade I wouldnt know where to look and didnt have time left for a search.
Machine was a 2 group Rancilio Z9 lever, I have a hankering to restore a commercial lever, any way, it went for more than I was prepared to pay considering the time and cost involved in a resto, hope whoever bought it realises they have to track down a drip tray as the seller knew it was missing but didnt state it in the description. The picture showed it as missing if you knew what to look for, bit of a grey area there.
So I might as well ask.
Does anyone know of a commercial lever suitable for restoration?
