Re: Recommended First Coffee Machine?
Hey, new to this site and to posting in general
Love coffee...i could happily drink perculator and even instant (SHOCK) untill scota made me the most memorable coffees during January Camps at a local Chrstian Youth Camp getting me thoroughly addicted and ever since ive been trying in vain to find a decent coffee from cafes but cant seem to find anything that matches it. (Every once in a while a random Gloria Jeans coffee comes close)
She also got me drinking coffee without sugar (my teeth thank you) and now that im not drowing the coffee taste with caramel syrup im consistantly dissapointed with the terrible taste of burnt beans, likewarm milk and just bad coffee in general.
Ive even resorted to quadruple shot GJ lattes during work but then have the problem of trying to sit still for the rest of the shift.
Can anyone recommend a decent place round brisbane to get a QUALITY COFFEE???
Also, i know you get what you pay for and (obviously) have hgh standards for my coffees (thanks again scoota) but just wondering what sort of machine and grinder should i be looking for sub $1000?

Re: Recommended First Coffee Machine?
Hi mic the ripper and welcome to CS!
So, if sccota got you hooked on coffee at a Christian Youth Camp does that make her the devil in disguise? ;D (I couldnt resist Scoota
)
You could get yourself a Sunbeam 6910 and matching grinder for under $1k, or perhaps buy a 2nd hand Silvia (more fiddly to work with but will last the distance) like the one just posted in the for sale section and a great Compak K6, also in the 4 sale section at around the $1k mark.
Good luck with it and let us know how you go!

Re: Recommended First Coffee Machine?
Even your cheap, Sunbeams, Breville Ikon and the like will with the proper beans produce a coffee better that the cafes.
I have been using a Sunbeam Crema for the last couple of weeks and also had a few coffees at cafes and I believe I am making a better coffee at home. I have been using fresh beans from Bean bay (Brown) and have been impressed with the speed of delivery and the freshness of the roast (within 3 days of the date of roasting) and I live in Cairns. My postie has even asked where I have been getting the coffee.
