Re: La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 vs. Rancilio Epoca S1 ?
Very keen to hear how you go. Ill probably buy a Techno irrespective but there isnt much choice in this dual boiler commercial (is La Spaz commercial?) level home use market and very few of them in Australia, so its interesting to know how people go.

Great to hear you got the Vivaldi. Alas, such a machine is way out of my price range. I had to settle for a second-hand BZ 35e, which no doubt will take quite a learning curve to master...

It did take forever - I ordered it in February and it arrived last week. I got it from the Melbourne importer - The Bean Alliance (who also do Monte Coffee) and have the biggest roasting facility in the southern hemi. I got the whole tour and it was impressive! Despite some time coming they were really good when it finally arrived and threw in a water filter, a 53mm tamp and some other connections. Price was $2700. Im installing into our new place soon and will let you know how it goes. They had one up and going and being tested for a couple of weeks and seemed pretty pleased with it. They are throwing the first two services as well so they can see how its going. I know they have another four in black.
Best

Im interested too. I tried to contact La Spaziale a couple of times and they were so hopeless at responding I decided I didnt want a machine from them on the basis if I ever needed any support Id not be in good shape.Originally posted by mauricem link=1122277329/0#5 date=1122717517Sounds like a good choice. Do you mind sharing the gritty details, how much where from etc?
ballpark is cool

Thanks Mark
Youll be pleased to know ive taken your advice and im now the proud owner of a La Spaz S1 Vivaldi! Wont be installed for another couple of weeks, but cant wait to get it going. Youre right... its only money, no where near as important as coffee!

Re: La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 vs. Rancilio Epoca S1 ?
Hi Harry,
I dont think youll regret getting the machine your heart is set on. It wont take too long before you forget the financial pain and then youll just have a great machine. Only last week I made the opposite decision and got a machine at a price too good to resist. Now Im returning it because I found it wasnt really what I wanted. So now Im going to buy the machine I originally intended to buy and pay the extra. Cest la vie.
Enjoy the coffee,
Mark.

Re: La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 vs. Rancilio Epoca S1 ?
Thanks Mark
Appreciate the comments. Its a big (and not financially inconsequencial) decision. Had my heart set on the Spaz and its just that the Epoca is going for such a good price that Im second guessing. I think Ill stay true! Youre right about the machine not being the main criteria for a good coffee, but itll sure look good. Gone from a Krups to a Silvia and now onwards and upwards. Thanks again.

Re: La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 vs. Rancilio Epoca S1 ?
Id go the La Spaziale. They are great machines. Im a tech-head, so the dual boiler machine really appeals. Ive seen a shot temperature profile from the Spaz and it was flat to less than 1 deg C! The thing of concern with the Rancilio commercial machines is that they are supposed to run hot. You can obviously compensate fro this, but do you want to?
Of course, beans/grind/tamp are all way more important than the machine. But once you have that sorted, then we start picking machine nits.
Just my $0.00 worth (rounding $0.02 to the nearest $0.05)
Cheers,
Mark.

La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 vs. Rancilio Epoca S1 ?????
In a bit of a quandary. Had a Silvia for three years and now updating and plumbing in something new. Had my heart set on a La Spaziale Vivaldi S1 but just seen the Rancilio Epoca S1 - and its an amazing price (because its red)! Any thoughts on the comparison between these two machines? Will the HX boiler on the Epoca be as effective as the dual-boiler La Spaz? Any advice welcome.
Thanks
