Re: Alternate Steam Wand for Imat Mokita... Sparky
Likewise with my Mokita Combi, having trouble creating microfoam, especially in soy milk. Need more length and a bit of angle to get a good swirl happening. (come to think of it I get 3 or 4 emails a day advertising a solution to a similar problem.)
I tried a three hole tip from an old Ambrogina coffee maker which is an electric version of the Atomica but I think the single hole is better.
Anyone come up with any solutions for this problem yet?
Re: Alternate Steam Wand for Imat Mokita... Sparky
Thanks for that Mark,
What is the O.D. of the Classic Wand, do you know off-hand? The Mokitas is 0.235" (5.97mm). If the two are nearly identical in O.D., Ill pull the Mokitas Wand right out and inspect the terminal end to see if that is comparable. Fingers and toes are crossed in anticipation,
Re: Alternate Steam Wand for Imat Mokita... Sparky
The short answer is: Sorry, I have no idea.
As for the Classic, the steam arm shared the same pipe diameter and seated teh same way. Otherwise, the lock nut/ferrule was different (Classics was female, Silvia was male) so I simply used the one from the Classics steam pipe.
Ill photograph the Classics steam pipe for you Mal, so you can ascertain if theres a chance of a correct fit to your machine.
Cheers,
Mark.
EDIT: Here is the photo of the Classic steam wand (bent) and the Silvia lock nut. I got it around the wrong way, the Silvias is obviosly female. In any case I hope this helps you make a decision one way or other.
The shortness of the Steam Wand on my Mokita is really starting to annoy me these days.... seem to be making a lot more lattes, cappas, etc. Its really the only beef I have about this machine.
I seem to remember that you experienced a similar problem with your Classic and that you overcame it fairly simply by retro-fitting a Silvia wand to it 8-). I dont know whether you have been able to inspect a Mokita "in the flesh" so to speak, but would you know whether the Silvia Wand could be retro-fitted to the Mokita? If its a relatively simple substitution I wouldnt mind giving it a go.
