I recently converted a Rossi RR45 grinder to single dosing using an 'octopus' batter funnel and was trying to work out the best way to load the PF. I came across a U Tube video of a guy demonstrating a Malkonig EK43 grinder set up from dosing & extraction to achieve perfect extraction results. He was using Decor 75 ml tubs. Looked brilliant so I ordered a set of 6 online for $5 which came in two colours which was great - one for caf and one for decaf.
I copied his technique which was to put the PF on top of the tub - it is almost a perfect fit.
Then invert and shake a bit and then remove the tub.
Finally I use a distributor / tamper
The only issue I found was while using the grinding that the grinds tend to fall down one side of the funnel and overfill the cup on that side. Rotating the cup a bit during the grind seems to fix that.
Am wondering having found the cup working well with the 'octopus' funnel would there be any further benefit in trying one of those SS dosing cups. Reducing clumping / static etc.
Anyway did a search on CS and found little discussion of dosing cups so am curious if members think them a waste of time or not.
