    Sounds good.
All our fruit from early cherries to current late nectarines have been late ripening this year with (tongue tested) sugar being very slow to develop.
We have also had a relatively cool summer.

No. On the ripeness testing done so far it looks like it will be within a couple of days of 2018 and 2019. We lost 2020 due to the bushfires so no comparison there.

To really slow ripening you need lots of drizzly grey days that never get warm. We've had a few bursts of rain but the weather between has been ideal: sunny and warm but not too hot (we never got over 40 up here). Grape vines shut down in extreme heat so a very hot summer is not good for true ripening either. Things are looking very good right now, barring unforeseen events I think this will be a very good year.

Is your vintage delayed with this years cool Summer?

    Sounds like a plan.

Vintage starts Monday so I long rides are out for a while but I love the Hotham ride, when you get up The Meg and look down to Harrietville soooo far below, that's a blast.

Hi LB, thank you for the very kind offer but I have ordered and paid.....But next time I’m over your way (I hope to head up Hotham on the bicycle before the onset of the cold weather) I will try to call in and introduce myself, I’ll message beforehand naturally.

If you haven't ordered it yet I have a couple of metres of that tubing spare. I can send you a piece for the cost of postage or you can pick it up: I'm in Beechworth, my workshop is in the Old Beechworth Gaol

The tubing in Mal's link is high pressure pneumatic supply tubing so it comes in sizes to suit pneumatic fittings.

Since you don't need the pressure / temperature performance of this tubing you can use a thinner wall tube which will be cheaper (not that anything made of FEP is ever cheap).

Mal: thanks for that link, I use pneumatic tubing in a couple of my wine technology devices and I didn't know it was available in FEP.

@AA, took a leaf out of your book and searched home brew supply stores and found some reasonably priced 12.5 ID silicone tubing. I expect I’ll be able to stretch it over the drain’s barb without too much trouble. Can stretch the Rocket’s thin wall 9mm ID silicone tube successfully......thanks guys for all the recommendations and suggestions

I have used reinforced clear 12mm hose for my drain but I’m not overly happy with it.
I have bought some 12mm ID silicon hose from an on-line homebrew outlet that is much softer and easier to slip on and off the drain reservoir on my Lelit when I want to move the machine.
I’m not too worried about solid fittings as it is only a gravity based drain.
The real limiting factor is the 8mm ID outlet from the reservoir and the 100ml(approx) volume of the reservoir.
I can see myself making a larger copper one with an 18mm outlet.
I also want to put a breather pipe at the back of my cabinet where the horizontal(ish) drain from the machine connects to the vertical drain to the floor.

Ah, I only posted up that link for your info to explain what FEP is and its capabilities...

Ahh, sorry Mal, I had only checked out that link you posted had never heard of FEP before then. Did a test with just off boiling water into the collector and tubing. The tube got soft but at no stage did I feel it would fail. I’ll suss out eBay for that FEP tubing, ta.

Mal, looks like the FEP only goes up to 12mm ID.
Hmmm, I bought a metre of 25mm ID FEP a couple of years ago so that's a bit weird...
    P.S.
Just checked on the Bay of Evil and it is still available there...

Thanks guys, truly expected that ECM would have included a length of drain tube in the kit but far from the end of the world. I have the vinyl tubing so will try that next week to see how it goes. Otherwise will eBay some silicone tubing, we are in lockdown down here again...... another “FU”.......Mal, looks like the FEP only goes up to 12mm ID.

Junk day... Drain hose from a washing machine. Has a handy very tight 90° at the end.
    May not be 14mm though

You could also look to grab some FEP Tubing of suitable diameter.
Perfect for this type of duty...

    Mal.
