  • WTB - Machine for <$3000

Were opening a backpackers in Central Qld and need a smaller coffee machine for the bar area.  We dont know alot about coffee or machines, so are asking "those who know" for any recommendations on makes and models.  Were owner/operated family business, so dont have alot to spend.  If anyone is upgrading and has something to sell 2nd hand, wed also be interested.

    Thanks

Emus, you could get a brand new 1 group machine and excellent grinder for just under $3K...maybe going 2nd hand straight off the bat is a wee bit hasty...

Im pretty sure a number of the sponsors to the left of this post would be more than helpful - then youve got all of us who will happily argue the toss on every segment of the decision making process! ;D

        Hi Emus
However you will need to decide if,

You want a DIY / Self Serve fully automatic machine that staff and back packers use

Or will you require a more hands on machine where you or staff will be making the coffee

You have chosen a good time to buy as end of financial year specials have been promoted of late

I agree the sponsors are a knowledgeable bunch and I am sure they will have what your requirements are

Emus, I agree completely with Wrecker. You may well be better off buying a prosumer machine and grinder from our sponsors, especially on some of the current deals. However, before talking to them you might need to think about your actual (or anticipated) needs so that they can give you their best advice. Think about items like number of days in use (5 day week, or 6 day week, etc); typical duty cycle ( on at 0600 off at 2200, or on at 0700 off at 2330, etc); number of cups made per hour, profile of number of cups across hours/across the day; likely number of cups requiring milk as opposed to straight black coffee, etc etc. This sort of profiling will enable suppliers to think about what machine and what grinder is best suited to your particular duty cycle. ....and then theres barista training!! And last of all, see whether Andy can sort out a fresh bean supply. Very best of luck.

Gday Mandy and Welcome to CoffeeSnobs.... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Have moved your thread into this section as you will probably get more targeted responses and ultimately have a better "fix" on the type of equipment that will most suit your needs and be within your stated budget.

              All the best ,
              Mal.
