WDT tool: Duomo vs Normcore

Edit: so that I can remove the funnel, as the coffee grounds once stirred sit on the funnel, if I were to remove without a gentle tap then I would have grounds everywhere

Only tapping downwards so that the coffee grounds aren’t up the side of the p/f from stirring. It’s minimal tapping. My shots with a naked p/f doing this method leave no channeling or spurts

Awaiting my niche that’s on pre-order. So I’m currently feeling like I’m up the top for what I want. I also own a dosing cup, I currently pour into p/f with funnel, stir, tap to level, ocd tool then tamp

$380 is obviously rediculous. May as well put that money to a better grinder that doesn't clump in the first place.
But as a totally different approach, why not use a cheap dosing cup, invert the cup on the PF, give it a bludy good shake to break up the clumps, distribute and tamp?

Thanks but I also attached photos of the options I was looking at. I already own one similar to what you sent, but wanting to get rid of having so many tools (funnel) as this would sit on top ridding the need for a funnel

Bought something similar but ended up throwing it out. It moved the coffee into channels because the needles were fixed. I really could not see the point (pardon the pun). If the needles moved in a random and constantly changing pattern then they might work well. As always, just my experience and my conclusion. Could be missing something.
Always a work in progress but currently I get the most consistent results with a simple puck rake using acupuncture needles (like the levercraft or decent versions) but I've settled on 0.25mm acupuncture needles although 0.3 and 0.4 seem to work pretty well too.

There are plenty of 3D downloadable files out there particularly on thingverse.com. On the DE community they had quite a few. I downloaded one and got two of them printed and ordered 0.4mm 3D printer cleaning needles from ebay/amazon. All of that including delivery was under $20 AUD and it does just as good a job as the commercially supplied ones. It has a screw base so if a needle breaks you can easily insert another one.

So if you were to compare it to a normal WDT tool like the lever craft, Etsy versions or the home version of cork and acupuncture needle, would you say it does the same job but without the need for a funnel? Or better? As I own the vst 18 and 20g baskets also, so this is good news for me if it’s good for yours also!

i purchased the normcore one to try, i mainly use an 18g or 20g VST basket so the depth is fine for me. I did look at the duomo also, but want going to pay that price.
Now i dont get any clumping with my Kony S so for me it really hasnt made much of a difference from just using a distribution tool. For the money though, it was worth a try

Yeah I’d seen a review on the Normcore site as it’s non adjustable and bigger needles. A shame, cause $80aud sounds a lot nicer than an almost $400 for the duomo

I don't own either but my understanding from YouTube videos is the normcore one, although a great price, maybe limited due to lack of depth adjustability, and the needle width may be a little large at 0.8 mm.

WDT tool: Duomo vs Normcore
I know WDT is a big thing for improving shot consistency and minimising channeling in a shot, so instead of using the old toothpick, or cork with 0.25mm acupuncture needles, I have seen the Normcore and Duomo WDT tools which are a 58mm style distribution tool with needles. Has anyone here had use of either of these products and would rate one better than the other? The Normcore is $56.99USD incl shipping, and the duomo is a ridiculous $380CAD!! Has anyone used a variant that is similar and does the same thing? I’m trying to eliminate the need for a funnel to stir my grounds and also remove the need for my ocd tool, so why not get a WDT tool that spins on the portafilter and then I can tamp directly after. Appreciate any suggestions. Will attach a photo of each for reference
