Update: the Molykote is soo good, instantly can notice the difference , E61 assembly slid on easier, I can tell its a more superior and trust will last longer than the Inox

I water back flush every Sunday and chemical every six months.
I only lube after the chemical flush but I use a 100ml pressure unit to flush.
Inox in the past but next time will be MK.
2-4 shots a day on a Bianca.

I reckon changing to Molykote will change your experience. You won’t have to feel the need to keep cleaning and lubricating as often. Obviously if you’re making more than 2 coffees a day you could shorten your time, but I honestly feel like 1 month Chem backflush and 2 monthly e61 teardown should be suitable for home use

Guys thank you both, that seems to be a great place to start as yes using filtered water and think cleaning wise I shouldnt be missing anything.
I will buy and start to use that Molykote 111.
Thanks legends

Yes FS that is spot on, certainly not wanting to steal your thunder, it was yourself and Dimal’s recommendation for the Molykote and it was certainly good advice. The Inox does the job but antidotal evidence seems to suggest that it is not quite as good and requires more regular application…. Thanks to both of you I’m a convert

I think i actually commented the same to use Molykote. Game changer for sure! I made sure I started with it and no issues

I started a thread a little while ago with basically the same issue as yourself. Shouldn’t be too hard to find but as per FS ditch the Inox and grab some Molykote and seriously it is so much better. With the Inox I was finding it was good when hot but like I had used contact cement when cold, changed to the MK and it is almost the same feeling hot or cold. I just re-lubed mine 2 days ago and if you find my old thread that was the first time I had used the MK. Did it need re-lubing now? Nah no not really…… just checked and the last post in that thread was 7/12/21….and not sure how to add the link to the thread, sorry

As long as you seem to follow the e61 maintinence vids that whole latte love and a few others put up. Even if someone has your machine specific would be better. I do a chemical backflush every month, cleaning the baskets and shower screen at this time (5x10 second intervals on and off, and then another 5x10 second intervals with no chemical in the group head. Then every 2 months I do a full e61 pull apart. I soak the springs, cam, and brass parts in the chemical backflush powder for about 15minutes, give the parts a light scour if they have any build up ( usually minimal), I then lube the top and bottom of springs, the top part of the levers that connect to the cam and the other parts, I lube all the o-rings and inspect those too, I give the water flow part a bit of a clean out with a brush and pour clean filtered water through it. Reassemble everything and give it a test. Just gotta make sure you lube the cam part that touches the lever part , and make sure it’s not significantly worn down otherwise the cam is a relatively cheap part to replace anyways. Squeaking shouldn’t happen if you’re using filtered water or proper water and lubricating all the moving parts that connect to other parts, and you also don’t want to be doing a chemical backflush too frequent either as that will eat away at the lubricant.
side note, I use Molykote 111, a lot of people recommend this to be the best food grade safe lubricant

Hi sorry added some more information now, the symptom is the lever gets resistant and squeaky.
I would hope I'm applying the right amount and in the correct places on the cam - have watched youtube videos how to do by popular coffee community channels

E61 related - lever lubricating / maintenance
Hi All,
Maintenance related question for E61 community - I am finding that I need to lubricate the lever fairly often (almost fortnightly) NB: my chemical backflush routine is every 6 weeks for reference.
My question is : are there any tricks or tips to keeping it smooth/lubed so I dont need to keep unscrewing and doing this every few weeks at a time. Maybe the type of lube, or the design of the machine at fault, I'm not too sure?
machine: Quickmill Rubino
lube: Inox premium food grade machine grease
Open to your comments, cheers.
