Yep, the Grid connect wifi is good, use the phone app to set timers...and in between, :OK, Google, turn on(of off) coffee machine". So works well with Google home.

I’m an Arlec Grid Connect from Bunnings person. I think they are about $10 or so, and a little more with the power use monitor built in. Super easy to set and adjust the timer as well as turn on/off remotely via the phone, handy when out to preheat before getting home. If the GPO is accessible, it’s as simple as pressing the button on the unit and it overrides the timer, so you don’t have to pull out your phone to turn it on.

I use the Kasa mini and the Kasa power 3 plug strip. Can set as a timer, turn on time or turn off time. I can turn them on from where ever I am as long as it’s still connected to my wifi. So I can be away from home and it’ll switch my machine on. Works great

Agree the wifi plugs are the way to go.
I used a regular timer one for a while which is fine, but every now and then I want to turn the machine on while out or adjust the timer to start an hour earlier if I have an early start. Super easy with a wifi plug, PITA with the regular timers. Wifi ones tend to adjust with daylight savings etc too easy which is nice and if you get the ones that work with google/alexa etc you can just say "hey google turn on the coffee machine!" which is handy sometimes too.

I'm sure they all do pretty much the same thing... If you use one just don't get caught out like I did this morning when it timed out midway through a shot completely ruining a promising extraction
I use a grid connect smart plug and it works well apart from user error

Got a few of the of "connect Smart wi-fi plugs" from harvey norman. Set it via your phone to turn on and off daily or customized to the days of the week you are working or sleeping in. Relatively easy to set up. $19.

You'll find some threads if you search for 'timer switch', but FWIW I used a basic HPM timer for years to heat up my Quickmill Achille (and turn it on for 1 minute at dinner time to stop it priming the boiler at 5.30 in the morning). I do own some 'smart' Arlec ones now, but there's no need for a timer with my current main machine.

    Power point timers

    Hi all

I'm keen to attach my La Pavoni machine to a power point timer so that it turns on at say 5:30am so I can enjoy an espresso as soon as I wake up. I can't find much on this forum about their use. Do you use a power point timer? If so, which one? which one to avoid etc.?

Bunnings has a range of them: https://www.bunnings.com.au/products...-timers/timers

    Welcome your sage advice!
