Thanks for the input guys. I think I might just take a chance and buy it and see what happens.

Ok, thanks Blues1143 so you can purchase your VST/new baskets and tamper, try them on your BDB and the will be ok for your next machine.

Sorry I may have misunderstood - BDB certainly takes all 58 mm baskets (mine currently has a 18 gram VST) but it has proprietary lugs on the portafilter itself.

Ok then you will be better off waiting till you upgrade then buy new baskets/tamper for your new machine.

Just check if the BDB has a 58mm portafilter (I think it does), if it does then the basket will fit your Bezzera E61 (which is 58mm). Other BDB owners will be able to confirm this.
I have the Pullman basket and Pullman Big Step tamper, they fit nicely. I do also have the Normcore v4 tamper, and that works really well with the Pullman baskets and is a lot cheaper than the Big Step. I can recommend both the Pullman Big Step and Normcore V4 tampers.
A lot of folks here use VST/IMS baskets and are happy with them. You just want to make sure your tamper fits nice and snug with your basket which ever brand you choose.

So long as you have some adjustment room left on your grinder you'll be fine to try a VST basket. Worth a try. I doubt you'll taste more than a subtle difference but it's fun to find out.

Thanks guys. Machine is the BDB and using the standard double basket. I am aware the quality of the Breville baskets are pretty good from the get go, but I have read quite a few people say they have had a noticeable flavour change after going to VST/Pullman/IMS.
I am also going to be upgrading machines in the near future to a Bezzera, and from what I have read/heard, their baskets are pretty ordinary, so I would end up having to buy something shortly anyway.

And what basket are you looking at buyinG and what coffee machine do you have?
I believe your current grinder will be ok. It is a low cost investment for more consistency.

It probably won't require a big adjustment. But what's the basket you are currently using?

VST Basket and Grinder
Hi all,
Apologies if this thread should be posted elsewhere 😳
I am looking at changing my basket to a VST but have read that a finer grind is requires to get the benefit of this. My grinder is the Rancilio Rocky, so my question is, will this be an acceptable grinder for the job? I dont particularly feel like dishing out $60 for a basket I cant use lol
Thank you in advance guys 😊
