Hopefully not the case as I just had it descaled. Have had that problem before and it just stopped it working entirely.

Actually one more thing to check that I forgot to say, sometime scale can form in the line to the pressurestat or even in the pressurestat itself which can give similar symptoms. Remove and check both parts before ordering a replacement pressurestat.

Thanks. I'm will do that if the current situation goes bad. Which I imagine it will eventually.

Sounds like a hardened diaphragm in the pressurestat. It won't trigger the microswitch reliably and adjustments will seem to have no effect or an unusual effect.

Expobar make a nice pressurestat, it is fully plastic bodied which may seem cheap but they last years in domestic service without issue. They're easy to adjust with a large ring that you can turn by hand and the switch can be easily oriented to fit in confined spaces. The part number is E00608A.

Sounds like something interfering between the adjustment screw / spring and the pressure diaphragm. I would replace the pressurestat, they're pretty cheap.

Something was most definitely wrong. I did some testing with the machine on and open and adjusted in small increments. For some reason, the half turn between 1.2 and 1 would send it to 1.4-1.5. Was slightly afraid to crank it lower past this point in case it blew past 1.5 but once I got there it went to 1. I dumped water and steam each time.

I have no idea why this would be and it makes no sense.

    There's something wrong.

Turn it back to the last known good position (the one that gave 1.1 Bar) and check that it works there.

If so, turn it down again and dump enough hot water from the water wand to trigger a refill. The heater should turn on straight away and turn off when the new set pressure is reached.

    Pressurestat and temp probe questions

    Hi csers

So I recently got my machine serviced and descaled and they've decided to put the boiler pressure up to 1.2 from 1

I recently got a group head temperature gauge as well and I'm seeing temps just over 100 and needing to flush a mug of water before dropping down to 92-94. About 20 or 30 secs after heating up for 40 mins.

I've got a Mater pressure stat so I turned it 45 degrees anticlockwise to reduce it. Got it to 1.1. Temps are better but still needs a decent flush. So I did the same again and the boiler pressure went nuts. Up to 1.25 and then to 1.4 after pulling a shot.

Do I need to give it some time to adjust or should it show boiler pressure changes immediately?
