    Gday Tommo....

The best thing you can do now mate, is shout you (and anyone else in the household) to a Home Barista Course so that you learn the "right" way to do things from the very beginning. Lots of our Site Sponsors run such courses and may have service exchange arrangements with some specialists over in the West, so definitely worth a call....

    All the best,
    Mal.
Mal is spot on... Training is often under rated but at the end of the day you can learn so much. Sometimes you may not recognise it but it also makes things so much easer when later on, you asking for advice... The little things you forgot will float to the memory space and things will make sense.

Tommo - to save you some time I have just been researching various courses in Perth with the view of improving /starting some proper latte art - there are a few centres that do intro courses and most are about 3 hours long, but quite a range of prices that probably tend to reflect the profile/reputation of the trainer...PM me for specifics - cheers CTGTC

Re: new user without a clue

hey guys..just an update from the new user with no clue...

after a very brief frustration..{about a morning and 1 kilo of beans} I’m a happy camper..the isomac has proven to be a good investment, and I’m so glad a went straight to a HX machine, rather than a slivia or the like..it’s so easy to use...once I had the grind right of course !!!..now it a simple job of flushing the grouphead and PF if the machines been sitting for a while..then  dose ..a bit of a wiggle to dissipate the clumps and I’m good to tamp....while the 25 sec 30 ml shot is  being pulled I get the milk out of the fridge and get that ready for the off, as soon as the shot is pulled I quickly bleed the steam wand and away I go...Im sort of getting micro foam..and its certainly better than it was a few days ago..so room for improvement there....after the milk is foamed I serve the coffee to my missus or one of my mates, I then do it all again..and I’m sitting with four to six people with mine, while they are still drinking theirs..something I doubt would have happened with a slivia...Ive by no means learnt all i need to learn from this holy grail of infomation..but im very happy with my early days results

so a thank you to all the people that have contributed to this site..as I’ve learnt an education here in just a few short days…you rock

Re: new user without a clue

            Hey Guys
Ive a question about the boiler element coming on too often...after a quick vist to the place I bought my machine to fix a stuck anti vac valve. I now find that the boiler is cycling every 40 secs or so.. its set to 1.4 bar . then drops down to about 1.1 bar in 40 secs , then the element kicks back in and we do the whole process again....is this right ?

you got me wondering what my machine does. Mine is set max to 1.1. This morning on for 23 secs, with complete cycle in 2.54. But mine is 5ltr boiler.

Is it cycling a lot quicker than before? I dont know what to expect of your machine, but if it is cycling a lot quicker than before, maybe now you have a little leak, which is reducing pressure too quickly?
