    Hi again Toad

Hmm, we could go on for quite some time so will just give an example, and by no means intended to suggest one machine is superior, but perhaps shows where the money goes. Rocket have obviously made an effort to make the GPP look good, but it doesnt stop there. The guts of the machine includes quality components.

At a recent get together Chris applied a Scace to the GPP and the results showed that time after time, this machine demonstrated solid performance in regard to thermostability. I believe this is due to the design and selection of componentry and configuration, eg. electronics, pipework, mass, etc.

As what I see as a decision to put form over functionality, they have replaced the wire tray with what would be a more expensive punched tray that doesnt allow spillages to fall through easily.

This is why we encourage people to make their own comparisons side-by-side whenever possible.

    I hope that explains somewhat.

Hey Toad, when you get down to Melbourne make some time to spend with Chris @ Talk Coffee.

I think you may be in for a surprise when you try the machines side-by-side, one shot after the other. While those on your list are all great machines, apart from bling and $$s, I believe there to be a substantial difference between one and the other.

    That mantlepiece serves a purpose.
Yep, Talk Coffee is where Ill be headed (after depositing wife in Myer perfume section!)

The main reasons i choose these two machines was the temperature stability, the cool touch steam wands (learning on a synesso has one disadvantage!), and the overall appearance of the machine.

Chris, would be happy to bring Marika down and have a chat with you, if that suits you.

Thank you for your help and support,

    Ashleigh
    Sounds like a plan Ashleigh

p.s- Toad- Looking forward to meeting you when you get to town...

    Hey Toads;

What about the Isomacs and the Diadema, they are comming very stong this days. At the end of the day is what you believe feel better in your hand, and which one you think will make you a better coffee.

    I like my Expobar.
Less bling = more functional bang for buck.

    Hi Ashliegh,

    I am also upgrading from a 6910.

For what its worth, my shortlist is:

    Giotto Premium Plus
    Bezzera Domus Galatea
    Expobar Office Leva

The Expobar is about a grand cheaper than the other 2, but functionality seems similar.
Its not as sexy as the other 2, but who looks at the mantlepiece when theyre poking the fire?

Cant wait for my trip to Melbourne in March, so I can go to 1 of the site sponsors & see these machines in action ;D

Upgradeitis has hit. Unfortunately I do not have the money right now to get a new machine, so will have to save for a few months, or maybe do a payment plan type agreement.

I currently have Sunbeam EM6910 with a Compak K3 Touch. Would like to match the Compak with a new machine.

I have decided between the new Expobar Minore III and the Rocket Giotto Premium. Is there much difference between the two machines? If so, what are they?

Or is there another recommended machine in this price range, say $2500 - $3000?

    Thank you

    Ashleigh

    Hi Ashleigh,

Both good choices as are VBM, Diadema, Bezzera, Isomac- just to name a few.

They all differ somewhat in feature set and yet they are all similar as well.

Wed be happy to talk you through some nuances and assist you in choosing the right machine for you.

    regards

    Chris

    Hi Ashleigh,

Not sure how much you already know about the Minore III and the Giotto Premium Plus (are you considering the newest model "Premium Plus"?). Maybe you could start by telling us why youve shortlisted these? In your price range, there is the Diadema Regal, Junior Extra, Vibiemmes Domobar Super, Bezzera Galatea ... All more than capable.

Highlights on the two youve shortlisted are: Minore III is a twin boiler with PID control on the brew boiler - so if controlling brew temperature is "your thing" this one deserves to be on your list. Theres not much to fault on the Giotto - and the decision in the end may come down to which one you prefer to live with.
