Hi cHooWii,Originally posted by cHooWii link=1230527787/0#8 date=1230789508Looking for advice on machines that make great coffee (mainly lattes) but small footprint...
One which comes ot mind is the Bezzera BZ07. Its a heat exchanger machine (simultaneous shots and steam) and is about the smallest footprint I can think of.
You will find them at Barazzi, DiBartoli, Talk Coffee and probably other sponsors as well.
Hope that helps.

Re: First Real Machine
I do... hence the inverted commas around real. Just my way of saying Im in the same boat as the OP.Originally posted by Thundergod link=1230527787/0#4 date=1230630831Interesting that you dont consider Silvia a real machine.
I would and I started with an Expobar.
Grant
PS. Ive got my new machine (thanks Dennis and Chris!) but Ill need some alone time with it before I write up my review and the reasons behind my selection.

Re: First Real Machine
Welcome to COffee Snobs cHooWii.
The simple answer to your space problem is to build a bigger kitchen to fit your new machine and grinder.

Re: First Real Machine
Hi Mark,
My Saeco super auto has also died after 8yrs! When the repair quote was $800 have decided to look for a new and "real" machine as well. Browsing this forum for members recommendation at this range. Problem being limited bench top space to place machine and grinder though.

Re: First Real Machine
Hi Mark,
Im in a similar boat to you - upgrading from my Silvia of four years to a "real" machine. Im doing some (amatuer) evaluations and will be happy to post my results back here.

Re: First Real Machine
Hi Mark,
The Rocket Giotto Premium Plus and Vibiemme Domobar Super are great choices. Have you also considered machines from Bezzera, Expobar and Diadema?
Check out our line up of Espresso Machines here
Grinders from Mazzer, Macap and Compak will be up to the job. These are our Coffee Grinders.
The jump from super auto to a separate grinder - espresso machine setup is a huge one in terms of espresso quality. Get your barista buddy to give you some pointers and you wont look back.

Hi Mark,Originally posted by MarkC link=1230527787/0#0 date=1230527786Hi all---the saeco finally died after 8 years and wish to upgrade to the real deal.My good mate (Italian and top Barista) has turned us into coffee freaks and I have some idea what a real good coffee should taste like.
Can I get advise on the ECM Giotto Premium and a grinder or should I go for VBM(viebemme) machine.? Also what would be a great grinder?
I live in Gympie so where does one look for a unit in the Brisbane area?
thanks in advance
Mark
FYI, the ECM machine is now a Rocket Espresso Giotto Premium Plus.
Both machines are outstanding. There are subtle differences though. We sell more Giotto/VBM than any other retailer in the country and have shipped many to QLD.
Some more information on both machines can be found on our website: http://www.talkcoffee.com.au/equipment/coffee-machines.php and our CS specials for the month are at http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163933911/5#5
Please feel welcome to call if we can assist....
