Hi 2mcm,
No doubt the ECM is a beautiful machine. What aspect of it makes you say that you would get better results from it compared with the Epoca?
Im just having a look at the specs of both and the main differentiator that I can see is that the ECM is an e61 HX, whereas the Epoca is a dual boiler without an E61 group.

Hi ACog.
The Epoca is not dual boiler. It is in fact a 3.9L HX machine.
The way that the rancilio group attaches to the boiler leads to less temp stability IMHO as compared to the e-61. This anatomy causes some of the problems that Silvia owners can experience. Of course the thermostats on the Silvia dont help either.
Johns machine has the thermostability upgrade and will on average produce a better cup.

Just came across this machine and am wondering if anyone has used one
I noticed it has a large 4ltr boiler and have an option of a water tank version with built in water softener or a plumb version.
The price is also about right
what are peoples thoughts compared to the ecm giotto which it will be replacing if i go this way
