  • Expobar alternative group handle

    Hi all!
just purchased an expobar minore III a few weeks ago.
its taken some time to adjust too....especially the steaming!

Im not happy with the stock group handle.  I think its a bit thin and light, and is probably loosing heat quite fast.

I emailed coffeeparts and they recommended the wega group handle as a heavy alternative that would fit without any problems.

has anyone tried the wega?  what other brands fit well?

Also, has anyone tried a four hole steam tip with the expobar?

    Cheers

    Re: Expobar alternative group handle

I dont have the Minore III but the one before.
I got a Marzocco 573525-MU (15 degree angle) group handle and also bought a Gomma rubber handle 700616 to replace the standard one.

I have really become accustomed to the feel and weight of it. When I swap to my other one for whatever reason (usually backflushing), it feels way too light and a bit wrong.

Just have the standard 2 hole tip on mine, but I have used a Minore III and the steam power is definately greater on the newer model.

    Brett.

Did you have to file down the ears of the LM portafilter?

might have to look into that. I read on a few post ppl have had to sand down the ears on the LM to fit.

someone was telling me not to go to heavy or thick on the pf too due to "thermal coupling" between the pf and the group....

whats thermal coupling? are they suggesting the metal will expand and get stuck when hot? :-?

Transfer of heat from group head to group handle, the larger the mass of the group handle the longer it will take to heat up, of course it will also take longer to cool down.

Nope, wont happen, I think at times people just like to over complicate things. Roll Eyes

                Re: Expobar alternative group handle

I have tried a 4 hole tip n my minore III and I found it made the cool touch steam want too hot to touch. Not much difference in the steaming either so went back to the 2 hole tip as standard.
