  • Hissing Safety valve GPP

    Hey guys and gals,
My GPP has been emitting a quiet hissing sound of late, i took off the top and it is coming from the one of the two safty valves on the top of the boiler (not sure if they are both safety valves) if i hit the button a couple of times to let some steam out it seals up and stops, then it happens again after a week or so, is it buggared? does it need replacing? it was purchased from serge from GoBarista......still under warrantee(dont really want to send it away) or is it something else? the boiler pressure is running between 1.1-1.25. not sure on the duty cycle whilst hissing as i havent measured yet.

    cheers guys

That will be the Anti Vac valve... MAYBE...

Hisses as you bring the system up and when pressure has been reached it seals off.. Could be a bit of crap and or the spring or seal is dirty..

Follow up with the supplier first... Could be a clean or replace.. Cheep...

Then again... I could be barking up the wrong tree... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

      Its the anti-vac valve wsully....

There is a small o-ring in it and the tiniest bit of scale or grit can create a poor seal.

You will find that like group seals, the anti-vac valve in not normally covered by warranty unless the o-ring is defective. Replacement is cheap

      Good luck

I think my Giotto Premium Plus also has a Anti-Vac valve that is on the blink.

Can anyone please refer me to a place with the right replacement valve?

              Thanks.

Mine didnt respond to cleaning on the FAEMA, but then again it is almost 15 years old...ordered a new one instead at all of about $30 which is sweet for a component made of brass that lasts that long.

                  Cheers
