  • Two gauges?

    Hi all,
I am looking to upgrade my old Silvia and am looking at pointy end gear. My question is - is there any real benefit in a two gauge machine vs a single gauge machine. I am leaning towards an HX machine, boiler size is probably not critical as I usually do two shots at a time.
    Any comments would be appreciated.

    Re: Two gauges?

I have an Expobar Leva (1 gauge) when deciding vs the Minore (2 gauges) it wasnt a big factor.

Ultimately it will come down to your perceived needs.

      Re: Two gauges?

The water pressure guage falls in my opinion, into the "strictly for diagnostic purposes only" category.

However you cannot discount the "also for bling purposes" category.

Our Junior Extra has both guages, while the other Junior models only have the steam pressure guage. Not a problem.

All commercial size machines have both guages, but most operators wouldnt know what theyre for and it isnt usually until there is some kind of "water failure" and we ask them what the guage is reading, that they take a look.

So from a purely home use point of view, I would say its only really for bling (my machine has more guages than yours... ;D ;D ;D

You have to like what you buy....whether it has 2 gauges or none, is nothing to do with *necessity*.

      Regardz,
      Attilio

        Re: Two gauges?

Thanks for the comments - in the end I have ended up with an Izzo Alex Duetto. Very happy with the machine and looking forward to doing some experimentation with temperature. Will write up my upgrade experiences in a week or so.

        Cheers
