Im not exactly a "new user" btw, Ive just been working in a room with a GPP in it, and Id never noticed how often it cycles before. It really is every couple of minutes which does seem a tad excessive. Well, okay its the just a little too loud "click" that makes it most obvious.
Once your unconscious mind tunes in to something, it will keep bringing it to your attention until you deliberately tune it out. This is the basic work of the RAS (Reticular Activating System) and is perfectly normal.

Thanks Mal, though its made me raise another thread because its off topic in this one and may be off more general interest.

All fixed by replacing your commercial pressurestat with a domestic one Lance

Mine makes a subtle "click" that occurs when the pressure in the boiler "sags" to 1 bar. I can then hear a feint bubbling noise as it heats the water again. During this time I can see the pressure gauge rising to about 1.2 bar. It clicks again and the heating noise stops. These noises are not loud.
As far as your concerns about pressure testing etc. Is the coffee you are getting OK? If so, I would suggest you dont change anything and thus there is no need to measure anything.

My GPP cycles on and off with a loud click every few minutes. ...Is this normal?
Yes
Sure is Lance, thats a commercial pressurestat doing its thang. If you watch the boiler pressure gauge closely, you will see it corresponds with the heating cycle. All is perfectly normal
My GPP cycles on and off with a loud click every few minutes. I honestly cant say how long its been doing it. Is this normal?
And while were on the subject of temperature and pressure are there any obvious symptoms (or ones that I can easily measure) that the pressure might need adjusting?
