  • Running rotary pump machines from tanks

    Hi,

Does anyone have advice on running say an Expobar Elegance 2 gr from a water tank rather than plumbing in? I imagine some pump adjustment would be required.

    thanks in advance

do some searching and you will find plenty of posts about it...

    main issues are

the pump can be destroyed running dry

Because the Rotary pumps dont really like to self prime so you need to employ a non return valve or have another small pump (flowjet type) feeding the rotary to keep it "primed". Or keep the water "above" the pump then it gravity feeds the pump and primes it.

you will need to adjust the pump to pump at "9 bar" at the group head using a scace / group head pressure type device to get the best from the machine. (pretty simple to do)

you also need to consider how you will filter the water if its a long term thing

what kind of set up are you considering ? tank on the bench or below etc?

i ran mine in a rental property like this for a while when i was looking for our new house etc
worked fine but its back to being plumbed in.

Thanks, Ill do some more searching.

I have a group pressure gauge and i plan to have the tank about 2 feet above the machine.

Itll probably be like this for 6 months so will need to sort the filtration.

      Thanks again

Just use a non return valve on the end of the braided hose- it will run fine after adjusting the pump pressure
