Steve - you can probably figure out which thing to remove pretty simply too. There is bound to be a picture somewhere The probes do require replacement from time to time, but if I were you I'd be grabbing the spanner and having a look. The top of the boiler is pretty accessible. The wrap-around stainless shroud for the whole machine is the only test - it is made of something like 4mm stainless! I would take mine off and slap a picture in the thread but we have guests arriving in about 2mins...

Like I said - this is a trivial fix, assuming it is just the crap from the water making a nice insulating sheath over the probe...

    Cheers
    /Kevin

Thanks Kevin, that is really helpful!

I appreciate it and am relieved it is nothing too serious.

Steve - sounds to me like it is the water level sensor in the steam boiler.

This is nothing more than a rod that goes down. When the rod is submerged, the pump switches off. It gets crud stuck to it after prolonged use. So you just remove it, clean it, and re-insert it (having marked how deep it is before removing it originally, of course...).

I haven't done mine, but I did do the one in my Oscar. Takes 10 minutes to restore function :-) Easy job.

    /Kevin

    Thanks for the reply AtomicGrog.

I will definitely leave it turned off and put it in for a service.

    Expobar Minore II fault.

Looks like the water level sensor to me.

Constant running will also cause the boiler to fill above the steam pipe exit and you'll get water rather than steam.

Strongly suggest you don't let it boil/heat up till this is sorted.

Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I'd add to this one. Did either of you find what the issue was with your machines?

The pump on my Minore seem to keep running/priming this morning so I turned the machine off. After a while I turned it back on and let it warm up as usual and ran a shot through it but there was an unusual amount of water coming from the steam wand. So much so that I could not steam the milk (ie. the water seem to keep running from the steam wand).

Then the pump started running/priming again and wouldn't stop. This time I let it go until I heard a hissing/popping sound so I shut the machine off and have left it since as I am not game to turn it back on.

Has anyone got any ideas what would cause this? Obviously I'll get it serviced ASAP but if this has happened to anyone else I'd like to know what the issue was and how it was resolved.

    Thanks

started a topic Expobar Minore II fault.

    Expobar Minore II fault.

My Expobar Minore II has developed a fault where at power of the pump keeps running.

On a normal power on the pump runs for a few seconds then stops, I gather the water sensor kicks in if the boiler is full to turn the pump off.

Anyone have any ideas on how to check the sensor and the controller or if there are things that could cause this behavior ??
