  • La Pavoni Pub help please

    Hi all,

I have a 1999 pub E single group which has just started going over-pressure (about 2bar) and was hissing constantly while switched on after warming up. Im assuming the hissing is the pressure relief valve, which Im used to hearing, but not constantly.

Where do I start looking for the cause? I had thought maybe the element wasnt switching off, so a thermostat might be the problem.

    Any ideas??? [smiley=undecided.gif]

    thanks,
    Mark

      pressurestat!
I took the covers off, turned the machine on and watched while it heated up. The pressurestat went fzzzzt and made smoke. I think you may be right [smiley=wink.gif]

      Thanks for the advice,

        Gday Mark....

Dont allow this to continue mate, it can start a fire and/or cause other related damage.

Best to turn the machine Off, leave it Off until you are able to source a replacement Pressurestat :-?

        Mal.

            Mal.
            Thanks Mal,

Ive ordered a pressurestat from a VERY helpful 9Bar Espresso Services.

In the short-term, the machine is working. I found the microswitch on the pressurestat to be siezed and replaced it with a compatable (250v) spare I had in the shed.  Turned it on, adjusted it and all seems fine.Thatll keep me going for a day or so until the new one arrives.
