    Re: BZ99 Restoration

Well I got the machine back today from Coffee Craft. Very impressed on 3 fronts. Turn around time was less than 24 hours and they had all the parts in stock too which was great so kudos to them.
Lastly, the machine was in a very good state with the repairer even quipping that he wouldnt mind buying it himself!
Very soon going to pull the trigger on an order for a water filter/pressure limiting valve from Bombora then I cant wait to give it a try!
    Happy days ahead.

    Re: BZ99 Restoration

    Thanks Renzo,
I have taken it in to Coffee craft today and have asked for a general service/clean and enquired as to the anti-vac valve and steam tip replacement. How difficult a job is it to take everything out of it and get the black base frame stripped back and powdercoated? Would I be opening a can of worms so to speak with lots of different seals? That would be the next thing to do once its serviced.

From the pictures looks good, original pressure switch, pump and board.

If i was you, i will change the anti-vacuum valve the one it has tend to get stack and sometimes instead of resealing the air as the machine get into pressure create a vacuum an could suck milk into the boiler.

Another thing I will have a look is the boiler seal. Otherwise Bezzeras are a very well build you should get another 20 more years out of this one.

    Regards

    Re: BZ99 Restoration

Thanks for the replies. So do you think I can just put the water in end into a container of water and wont do any damage to it by doing so? I wouldnt do this long term just enough to check that it works.
The shower screen is filthy and rusted so I definitely wont be drinking from it.
Agreed the steam tip has to go! Pretty sure Ive seen
it on another one so I think it was a standard part at some point in time. Im hoping Ill be able to replace just the tip instead of the whole arm.

I thought the same thing about the steam tip its massive, maybe some type of froth enhancer thingy.  Should be easily replaced in any case.

You may be able to check the machine by drawing water out of a container.

Can certainly recommend the guys at CoffeeCraft. In the unlikely event theyre unable to help pm me and Ill recommend an alternative.

According to Basil they will have a Bezzera Strega on display as of today which I was hoping to inspect but instead am looking after a sick child

you dont 100% need (or at all) the pressure valve to test

    good looking machine but !!

i noticed the size of the steam tip, looks so BIG. The weight of that tip might tip the machine over if you swing it out the side... lol
Wonder why it is on there as it does not look standard?

    BZ99 Restoration

Ive come across a cheap used BZ99 that apparently works but I have no way of checking as its a plumbed in model and as yet I do not have the required pressure limiting valve/filters to even plug it in to verify its condition. Im thinking most probably will have to drop it off to my local site sponsor in adelaide (Coffee Craft) to get an expert opinion on where to go from here. I was hoping a few more knowlegeable people on here could offer a keen newbie some informed commentary and suggestions from the photos attached? Thanks in advance.
