Descaling a hx machine - why fill the boiler to the top?
Re: Descaling a hx machine - why fill the boiler to the top?
rocking the machine would be the equivalent of dipping something in descaler and taking it out again, as opposed to soaking in the solution - ie. not very effective.
There is bound to be scale over the entire interiour of the boiler as particles are splashed and evapourate / condense all over the place. I know steam is technically pure water, but in reality it isnt, and from what Ive seen the worst scale seems to deposit on the edge of (just above) the water line.
Descaling a hx machine - why fill the boiler to the top?
I have just finished descaling my Giotto Premium Plus as per Chriss instructions, and it got me to wondering why it is important to fill the boiler completely by removing the boiler probe.
Surely there wont be any scale at the top of the boiler, as the water level never gets that high?
Why not just let the boiler fill normally & then rock the machine back & forth a few times to get the descaler on the top of the boiler?
