Hi there and welcome out of the closet (and into the forum).

Regarding the bigger better faster stronger Vibiemme you speak of, I believe this thread is what you are referring to.
    http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1200231035
From what I understand, its a dual boiler Vibiemme Domobar Super.
If youve read all about HX machines and think you can live with that, the machine I have is perfect.
If you can afford the difference, lucky you! Or spend the difference on a better grinder, which you will read is a very importand investment.
    Have fun!

I should add, theres nothing hard about cooling flushes on this machine.
    I absolutely LOVE it.

Hey Chris, nothing like flashy pictures to get people interested eh? (commissions accepted)

My first post as a snob.  Been a guest prowler for some time.  I dont have a home espresso set up yet but that is going to change very soon according to the Minister of Finance.  After all the reading, research and comparisons we thought the VBM Super seemed like a very logical choice.  Compares to most everything else in the price bracket favourably, rates highly, and at least to us seemed everyone who owns one loves it and many who dont own one want to.

Is this thread saying theres a new improved version coming soon, or a much more expensive version that "may" do things better?
There is a PID dual boiler version coming and it will be available in lever and electronic versions, some with vibration pump and some plumbed, rotary pump.

Priciewise, think north of $3k to perhaps 4k or so.

Expect a higher cost of service and ownership for a much more complex machine. Its probably overkill for home but will be laden with geek factor. Nevertheless, the biggest influences on shot quality will remain freshness, grinder and most importantly, the nut on the group handle .

I am hoping to be on a preview model on the ECA stand at Aromafest. I think we are realistically some months off seeing them for sale in Australia and as per usual, the early adopter caveats apply

That coffee machine is pure porn,
I have the VBM Domobar Levetta from Chis, and do agree that his service is excellent. So are the Machines.

    Nice choice

Theyre getting better and better Adam.
I have given up trying to master the art at the moment, i only do 1 - 2 milk based drinks during the week for the war dept and its difficult for that to improve my technique.

I guess like you said a study session on youtube

    Keep up the practice.
They already beat the hell out of my blobs.

Thought I would give an update.
    Things are still going great.
Havent yet needed to tip any down the sink.

Ive been working on the art a bit - I can see there is a real skill in it and a few cups a day really isnt enough practice to get "good". But Im having fun, so I thought I would share.
These are some of the better efforts.

Looks a bit like a bird of some sorts - maybe a peacock?
    Total fluke and unrepeatable.

This ones not supposed to be a rosetta or a fern leaf - more a Tasmanian Pencil Pine...

Practice practice practice... And off to youtube to see how its supposed to be done.

    Things are going well.
The steam was at first a bit powerful so I blocked one of the outlets with a toothpick for a few days.
Now Ive gone back to using both holes and adjusting the pressure with the tap better.
Starting off a bit easy on the steam and getting some air into the milk to start the stretch, then increase the pressure to spin it good and finish it off.
A steady hand required so as not to allow a big gulp of air too late into the stretch, or I will have too many big "cappucino" bubbles.

I have tried changing from skinny 1% milk to regular milk. This has made things a bit easier in achieving microfoam.
Its still early days, but this morning I made a coffee that was the nicest I have had in Tasmania.
Not the nicest latte art, but the nicest tasting coffee.

So heres a couple of photos.
A long way to go, but its a start.
    First round...

    2nd round...

This is my first post here, so not sure about the protocols—can the OP indicate the approximate price paid? This is the machine my lady and I are looking at, but we do not have a clear idea re. where to source yet. We live in Canberra. TIA
Youve done two things correctly so far.
Firstly, youve decided on a fantastic machine, and secondly, youve discovered CoffeeSnobs.
On the left is a list of site sponsors, and as indicated, there is a link there to Talk Coffee.
If you visit this link, you will find a link to "other Specials" for CoffeeSnobs members from Talk Coffee.
There was a VBM there a while back but I cannot see it now - doesnt mean you wont get a good price for a great mechine.

Thanks to everyone for great comments on my newest member to the family. Ill keep this thread updated with my world of discovery with it.

    Hi there
Site sponsor CosmoreX Coffee are located in the ACT.
Try them or you can try the same supplier that Tasadam used, Talk Coffee, also a site sponsor. I have used them on a number of occasions and i cannot give them enough praise. Chris from Talk Coffee will give you superb unbiased advice on all things coffee.
They sell interstate and as can be seen by Tasadams post everything went as smooth as it should.
