Re: Giotto premium plus- discussion thread

Congratulations! Welcome to the GPP club. From our discussions I was wondering when you were going to follow through with the upgrade and if it was going to be the Giotto. I dont think you will be disappointed. Im still very happy with mine.

Thanks Den, and yes, my wife does think your Chai Latte is better than mine, but perhaps for not much longer now I have a new item of weaponry

...and thanks Buschy! Is it great minds think alike?

The upgrade was a matter of convincing my wife. I didnt pressure her but I knew it would be when and not if.

Im sure I will not be disappointed and my upgradeitis has been cured.

A few have mentioned it is better to beat upgradeitis by jumping straight to the pointy end. That is sound logic and better for the hip-pocket but I dont really regret the transition. The VBM Piccolo has been a great learning tool for me as it requires you to work harder and tweak all the variables to produce a truly good coffee.

I wouldnt have been that disappointed if I didnt end up scoring the GPP and stayed with the Piccolo a little longer (and also looking at the prices Chris has just posted for the Diadema JE  - one high on my short list  )

The only thing wrong with my VBM Piccolo was that it isnt a GPP!

geez Steve, i remember reading not so long back (ok well maybe its been nearly 12 months) about you convincing the wife to be given the go ahead for the VBM
and now youve managed to do it yet again with a Giotto

ive transitioned from Nescafe 43 to Moccona Classic Dark Roast myself

            Hey Darren

Good to hear from you. I thought they might have hospitalised you with instant coffee overdose (ie one or more a day)

Youre right - its less than 12 months since I got the VBM. The GPP is another dimension!

              Congrats flynn_aus.... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Great service and hardware from a great CS sponsor. Cant beat that.... 8-)

Once you own and use a machine at this level of quality, everything else seems like a distant dream doesnt it? So easy to use and such great coffee. Have fun mate... ;D

                Thanks Mal

Its your fault, you know Ever since you bought your DJE and have been those photos of those beautiful shots youve been pulling. I didnt think I could rest until I moved up to an HX and I havent been disappointed.

Sorry, other CS sponsors. I went just to have a look and I didnt want to rush into any decisions. But the demo, the service and the price were too good to refuse. It was a no-brainer decision.

                  Hey, Congrats Steve!

Beautiful bit of gear, I must concur. After having mine about 7 months now (gone so quick!), I still cant get the smile off my face.

And doing the deal with Dennis - even better.

                  Enjoy it.

                    Thanks Greg

Im extremely chuffed. Enjoyment? Thats a given, as you would already know.

Without the need for a poll, I think the Giotto must be close to the most common among the CS HX owners; a bit like Miss Silvia among the SBDP owners.

I have just read through this post. These machines look lovely and Im sure they produce fantastic results. Well done to all that have them - a gleaming addition to the kitchen - price of place!

What is the 3mm GH restrictor that was posted about above as part of the set up?

                      Cheers

PS. Dont get too excited by my post Chris - havent got plans to give up Ms Due anytime soon; unless of course she gets transported to my (fantasising here) coffee shop and I then need a tidy replacement (the EM just wont do anymore after the joys of a quality commercial) ;D

                        Hi Scott,

a 3mm GHR is a setting which Id consider only on an original Giotto Classic- and theyre not worth doing anyway due to steam valve restriction.

Current GPP have thermosyphon restrictors installed (there have been a variety of sizes and configurations) and are as good as Diadema out of the box in terms of their settings. Ultimately, it comes down to balance.

We can and do still make very minor changes. Any machine can be improved with some Scace work and a little grey matter 8-)

                        Chris

                          Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a Giotto PP and Macap M4 combination - of course Im delighted with both of them - quite an upgrade from my 8 year old Saeco via venezia (to which I must admit still having somewhat of a sentimental attachment). Really I just wanted to thank the Coffee snob community for all the lively discussions that informed my choice - and if Im to be honest - encouraged some serious "bracket creep"! I also particularly wanted to thank Chris from _Talk Coffee_. His advice and assistance with the purchase was truly excellent. Thanks again to all.

                            Welcome and congratulations Flametree
Bracket creep sounds like a bit of an under-statement for your upgrade - even if it was "serious". Im sure in no time youll wonder why you persisted with the VV so long.

Excellent service from Talk Coffee can alwways be counted on!
