      Re: Vibiemme Domobar Junior?

Ive done all the listed mods and also used some windscreen washer hose off a Holden Sedan for the "split hose mod" That seemed to work better than the teflon tape. No east/west movement, and to adjust it it just requires firm pressure to turn the hopper.

I did both, some silicone fuel tube from R/C models, and teflon tap on the bur carrier. I used some of the fuel tubing to permanently depress the lever so I have stepless adjustment, which is what I read the mod was for. I have zero wiggle in mine, and it doesnt budge in the slightlest when the grinder starts, it sounds a lot different and produces a much different grind. I think only the teflon tape was requred, I have a pretty big gap between my hopper and the metal casing, the fuel tube barely touches, and is instertable/removabe with the hopper installed. The hopper was a pain to reinstall though, with a few layers of thread tape the thread is quite tight.

I also have a Domobar Super, and althought I havent tried another grinder, I certainly have no gripes with the quality of the pair now. I think with a Rocky youre suitably equipped to get a new machine without having to fork out for a new grinder. That said, a friend mine (sink cut? havent seen him around for a while...) had the same thing as me, I think, and upgraded to a Mazzer SJ and said the difference was significant.

While Im here... Ive heard about the click clack thing... how does it work? I thought it was just a different lid for it? how does it allow you to "pump a amazing amount of excess ground coffee out of the spout."?

Hi Sammus, I will stick with the Rocky at least in the mid term and am planning to visit one of our sponsors in the next month or so to have a play with one of the new Juniors. With the CC lid, you use it as a type of plunger as it seals in the top of the hopper and as you push it down it creates a "gush" of air which in turn expels some of the ground coffee caught in the outlet chute. The canister cost around $12 from K-Mart and I now have the original hoppers lid on it with tea bags stored in it. Worth while doing.

          Regards, Steve.

A quick update to this thread,

ECA has started shipping the Domobar Junior with the far superior Jaeger pressurestat which replaces the Mater of the original unit.

Without going to full commercial and given space requirements, this is amongst the very best available.

Do you have a Spec. Sheet for this unit Chris?

              Mal.
