Is it possible to install a separate anti vac valve,
Yes, all what you need is an anti vac valve and pipes with the right fittings.

    Thanks Renzo,
Is it possible to install a separate anti vac valve, I have seen them advertised for very little? By safety valve, is it a pressure relief valve that you are referring to?
    Thanks, Sooty

    Sooty;

The BZ35 is good machine the only problem that I found with this machine during the years is that anti-vacuum and the safety valve are one unit.  Main recommendation with this machine is release some steam before you make the milk and after you finish .  You should do it anyway with any machine.

Parts are available from Barazi and Bi Bartoli if you ever need any seals or others.

PS:  I should have a manual somewhere, will try to send it to you.  Otherwise happy to talk and guide you over the phone

I think I have decided on the Bezzera BZ35E, subject to any responses to the following questions.
Is there anything inherently wrong with the unit in terms of reliability, maintenance etc to those of you that have had one for a few years or have bought a used unit?
The one I am considering has a vibe pump and is plumbed (and has always had a filter).
Any response will be greatfully received.

PS does anyone have a manual they could forward?

One thing to look at with the oscar if it is second hand is the pressure stat. Apparently the older ones came with a particular brand of pressure stat that had a habbit of dying every year. The new ones are all sorted and a lot of owners with the older machines had the better pressure stat installed.

The unit was sent up to Bris and returned, The cost of repair was above thier liking and hence the bargain you see on EvilBay appears.
The 35E looks like it could be worth it. I am sure the 99s will fetch around this price and someone will be having to pay big$ very soon, on repairs.

Thanks Baker, it is the one on Ebay. That particular unit will be off the list.
How did you find out about its history?

Make sure they have been serviced, warranty if from a shop, etc.
That is a very good advice, 2nd hand coffee machines are like the cars, you can get a good one with a little luck.

If you wish pm I will give you more information what to look for.

The one that falls into your budget.
But i am biased towards the 99, i have one they are great.
If your not after special looks this is a great machine.
Make sure they have been serviced, warranty if from a shop, etc.
    Enjoy your journey.

    Hi fellow Coffeesnobbers,
I am considering all of the above as 2nd hand units, the BZ35e with vibe pump and Tea being plumbed and the other two tanked. The more I read and compare, the more I confuse myself. The Oscar is the newest and the BZ35 the oldest. As Im only starting out, I will probably average 4-6 cups a day (mainly milk based) with a few more on weekends.
They all seem like capable units, and for me, appearance would be the lowest priority.
What direction do all you experts think I should take?
    Thanks in advance, Sooty.
Working...
