    Oooh, one more question, probably for Regal owners - is the shower screen flat or convex?

    Excellent combo Annzy.... 8-)

    Im sure youll be very happy and well satisfied with the quality of brews from these beauties. That course in Orange sounds like a winner too and well worth doing.

    Have fun.... ;D

    Mal.

    Thanks for all your help everyone.

    Im going with a Regal and M4, not forgetting a Pullman Tamper of course!  ;D

    I live too far away to be able to attend barista courses with any of the site sponsers

    There is however a ripper cafe and roastery in Orange (only 100km away from me) and the owner runs regular courses. Now that Ill be owning a machine Im not embarassed about, Ill line a course up with him.  ;D

    included in the price of the machine
    A barista couse can often be "squeezed" into the package

    and you might be able to squeeze in a barista course as well.
    Or the seller could provide training and support included in the price of the machine so that there is never a need for a barista course.

    Suggestions for machines around same price (sale price of DR $2295) keeping in mind I need a grinder too...?
    Hi Annzy,

    Machines to have a look/demo on in that price range include:
    * Bezzera BZ07
    * Diadema Regal 1.3
    * Expobar Office Leva
    * Isomac Tea

    These will easily cope with your demands and leave you room for a good quality grinder and you might be able to squeeze in a barista course as well.

    Welcome Daisy and good onya! Sounds like a great set-up youve got coming your way - very exiting, eh? Post up a few pics when it arrives.

    Yep, Annzy. The M4 (or 5) is a beautiful grinder, would match any HX machine. Being out west makes it a bit hard to get to a sponsor to try out a few. (Might be worth a trip into Sydney - Di Bartoli, Jet Black, Cuppacoffee - or Canberra - Cosmorex, home of the beautiful Diademas.) Im sure, though, that Chris will give you great advice if you cant.

    As Daisy has indicated, you should be able to get a very nice set-up for $3K. (And keep a bit in reserve for the Pullman tamper  .)

    Enjoy the search.

    Its meant to be here between 11-2pm very exciting indeed. I got the office leva and the only dif between the hoppers is the shape and amout of beens they hold the M4 i think is 400g and the M5 600g so the M4 is good for cupboard height restrictions. Ill post some shiny pics once all here and setup. The extra money on the Diadema would definately be worth it.

    Again, havent used a 1.3 lt machine, but Id suggest it should be fine for your use
    Wise words Greg,

    Whilst we all love the notion of driving a big thumping V8 car or maybe a Ferrari, how many of us can even use the performance of a small four  :-??

    I have done coffee for 50 with a Diadema Junior Semi-auto which also has a 1.3L boiler. It was a walk in the park....

    There are great machines with small boilers and rubbish machines with larger ones- and vice versa for that matter

    The key factor is to get honest advice and preferably buy a machine which is terrific out of the box rather than one which needs major modification to behave. You can do a whole heap worse than the Diadema....

    Happy shopping...

    Chris

    Agree... I have a Diadema Junior Automatic as the rest of the tribe like the auto volume option ( I do at times.. But you can still use as a manual)

    Great little beast and Steaming / coffee etc etc No problem... Boiler auto fills so no problem..

    Only ever needs flush if sitting for extended time.. Problem is the wife takes her time when I tap on teh bell to get her to bring me more filtered water, when its time to fill the tank.. Problem is that the sponsors do not provide re education for partners... Apparently, that is out responsibility

    So what would be the reason Id want a larger and narrower hopper?
    By no means am I an expert, but Id say the narrower hopper (M5) would allow better weighing down on the beans going into the grinder from the beans above, whilst the shorter hopper (M4) may suit some people aesthetically and fitting under cupboards, etc.

    Also, what are the cons for only having a 1.3L boiler? There are only 2 in our household wholl be using the machine with the exception of the occassional guest.
    Again, havent used a 1.3 lt machine, but Id suggest it should be fine for your use. Steaming power may not be quite the same as a 1.8 lt machine but I understand theyre still adequate for average domestic use. (If Andy Freeman can make 2,000 coffees in a row at the Vic bushfires with a 1.8 lt Giotto, then Id assume a 1.3 lt Regal should cope with 2 plus an occasional guest.)

    Best to talk with Chris (Talk Coffee) or Attilio (Cosmorex) who know all there is to know on these machines.
