No worries I check the forum every day so any issues post and I will reply. I may not always be right but, I have had the Musica now for over two years and am still enjoying the experience. When you are changing things to get the Best out of it, only change one thing at a time so you know what worked. Enjoy the experience.

    Hi guys

Glad you are getting the hang of it, as with any new machine it takes time to get it dialled in.

I would suggest while you are still learning not to adjust the preostat, it can be a fiddley thing for someone not used to it. It is quite common with the Musica for the "indicated" pressure to show 1.2 to 1.4, don't worry too much about this at this stage, a quick flush as Stan suggested and you will notice an immediate drop.

Grind and dose are where its at for you right now, so practise, practise, practise.

Of course give me a call anytime and I will gladly talk you through any issues

    Cheers

I would Play with the grind if your beans are freshly roasted small changes can make a world of difference. Don't worry to much about having some water on top of the puck as this happens quite often, it does not necessarily affect the taste in the cup (IMHO).

The pressure normally runs about 1.2 to 1.4 on mine but if left idling it can run up to 1.5, just give it a quick flush and it will drop. The red dial if you want to play with it is behind the drip tray on the right side and can be covered with a rubber cover.
thanks Stan, you're a wealth of good info! Yes fresh beans from a very good local roaster Wolff @Dandelion & Driftwood. Lucky I am surrounded by them here at New Farm! Definately getting a bit of wet stuff on the top. This morning I dosed a little less in the basket, with a slightly finer grind and got a much thicker syrupy creama pour. yay! really that's all I want, nice thick honey like crema and good flavour! Thanks for the tip with the pressure dial, know the rubber cover you mean, will pop it off and have a wee look. cheers

The pressure seems a little high based on other Musicas we have sold. The Musica does tend to fluctuate pressure on the guage, surfing .2 bar is quite normal. You might want to decrease the pressure slightly if you feel the temperature at the group head is a little high. To adjust the pressure remove the drip tray and you will see a small hole on the right hand side. If you look in here you will see a red dial that you can put a small flat head screw driver in to dial the pressure up or down. (it is marked + and -). Depending on the model you have you may even have the Sirai preostat if it is the professional model.
Feel free to call me to discuss if you need some pointers
    Regards.

Hey Antony, what model did I get? My pressure is running between 1.4 - 1.6.....and the shots I have been pulling with these new beans are pretty bitter. Do you think that could be the pressure? I will have a look for the red dial to turn it down a bit - that is if I have the model that can do that?

Also as I was buying the basket I treated myself to a Barista Tamper. One has to do what one has to do.

Good luck with the new machine Di [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Just bought myself a better tamper too! hmmmm maybe the basket might be adding to my problems??? How much is a Synesso basket worth??

Getting better thanks Stan. But now my coffee has gone from not bad to worse!! argh! Got some new beans and all I am getting now is weak crema, a very thin layer of it and a bitter brew. Have coarsened the grind a bit and tamped less......have dosed less. Have fined it up a fraction more, tamped more...etc etc ?????? Where is that thick rich syrupy pour I was dreaming of????? May have to go buy some different beans, as these were from a place I had never got beans before (they roast their own) but I don't know how fresh they really are, or what they normally brew like?? Maybe that was a dumb move to buy different beans?

Stan what pressure does your NS Musica run at on standby and in action? Mine seems to be sitting at 15 and goes up a little as I brew? Is this too high?

ahah! Antony the right side lifts and slips forward, but the left side catches. Hubby had to pop it up with a screwdriver. Put it back in and it's happened again, so I may need to file the lug down a bit on the left side?

Thanks Antony but this will sound like I'm dumb, but I've been lifting the front and nothing is happening...in fact it sort of lifts the whole machine?? I have tried to ensure I am just grabbing the tray, but it jiggles a little and nothing? Very frustrating! I had to empty the tray by scooping it out. Everything else looks sweet.

Just received my lovely new NS Musica and it's a pretty thing. I got the non LED lights version. First shot, looked okay, second shot with a little finer grind and it looked pretty good, so I steamed the milk (in NO time flat) lovely glossy micro foam. And considering it was my first ever go/sight of this machine it was pretty damn nice. Tomorrow morning I will play with it more and crank out a few more shots. Can't wait. And many many thanks to Antony from CS sponsor Casa Espresso for all his help and advice and sending this sweet little baby up to me in Brisbane. Now if I can just work out how to get the drip tray out????????????
