Sorry to hear that - if you have the same repairer I did after the couple of problems I had they replaced the machine and (touch wood) I have had no issues with the new one. Let us know how you go

Hi All, i just got my new musica home today, removed it from the box, removed all the plastic which protects the stainless steel and after wiping it down so its nice and shiny, i filled the water reservoir, plugged it in all exited and once the boiler was filled, water started leaking from beneath the unit on the left side.. The dripping turned into a steady flow and my sponge couldn't absorb the water as fast as it was leaking.. I am sooo dissapointed.. So tomorrow morning I have to battle peak hour traffic to drive to Preston to have the authorised repairer inspect the machine.. Just my luck i have a lemon.. I am guessing the boiler has a leak as the water starts flowing the more the boiler is filling and the leaking water is quite warm..

I'll keep you all posted on the problem, repair and customer service.. Hopefully i won't be without for long..

After having my musica for 11 months & adjusting the boiler pressure earlier on in the peice to get things how i like them my musica didnt miss a beat & made perfect cuppas however one month before the warranty ran out id had the machine switched on for around an hour or so & whilst sitting in our living room i heard an almighty bang & a hiss - ran in to the kitchen to find steam coming out of the machine everywhere. anyway after turning off the power & opening the steam valve to release some pressure i let it cool down and contacted the seller i had purchesd it from, and long story short they gave me a contact number for me to get it looked at in Brisbane and took it into them, one MONTH later it was ready and they have replaced the original pressurstat with a mechanical sirai, it works perfectly once again although the machine itself is a little more noisy (rattles internally) when running water through the hot water outlet, but as i said it works again :-)
P.S. i still think this machine is cool !

My new one has not missed a beat and I have had it about 2 months so far so good. They are very easy to use and produce great coffee. The Service agent and Sponsor were excellent in dealing with the problem and replaced the machine without any propmting.

Nobody else has had any issues and I was speaking with the Australian Supplier and they are wondering if I got a lemon and are considering replacing it subject to the inspection by the technician which is where it is as we speak. They stated they have sold many of them and mine is the only one that has had major problems. Hopefully it will be resolved today or tomorrow.

Ah, bugger, sorry to hear that, Stan - unfortunately it must be something to do with just your machine because (fingers crossed) nothing has gone wrong with mine so far...

    Cheers

My Musica has failed again. The Lights are on but no heat. Have spoken to the Sponsor who I bought it from and am waiting for a reply. This is the third time it has failed in a year. Not happy >. I hope they either fix it this time or replace it. I have spoken to the spomsor and am waiting for a reply as to what they will do for me. I cant believe it I must have got a lemon as nobody else has reported these issues. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Heard back from the Sponsor and am now waiting for the people that hold the Warranty for the machine to get back to me. I am not a patient person >

I had some teething issues. But they were rectified in the warranty. My machine does not run hot and kyton I would suggest if it is under warranty get it looked at.

I have found that it is a very easy machine to use and produces great repeatable coffee. But remember to get a decent grinder with it. I had a sunbeam 6910 prior and the wife would never use it. However she does use the Musica with great results. I have not regreted the purchase.

I find my Musica runs very hot - so hot in fact that I have to temper DHs capps each morning with a shot of cold milk.

Other then that I have found it a fairly easy machine for a novice to use (and the bling factor of the lights cannot be discounted LOL)

    Hi Gaye

Supreme coffee machines have one on display but they wont give you a demo with it.

I have one and love it! Im an amateur but am making nice lattes and am slowly mastering some art as well!

Good luck with your decision and feel free to ask questions!!

    Re: Nuova Simonelli Musica

    Hi,
I have been researching the Oscar and came across this thread on the Musica so now I have to start all over again!
I want a machine that is easy to use for both an amateur (me) and an expert (him). I like a fairly weak and very hot capp and husband likes his very strong and not too hot so I want to please us both. I know having the milk very hot is a no no but that is the way I like it and I am quite unrepentant about it! Would the Musica fill my requirements and if so where in Perth can I see one?

    Any help appreciated

    Gaye

My Musica sits at about 1.25. The highest I have seen it is about 1.4 until I gave it a flush and it dropped back to 1.25.

All I can say is experiment with the grind. Dont adjust your tamp routine. Once you have explored the grind if there is no improvement adjust the tamp pressure. IMHO only adjust one thing at a time to see if you get an improvement.

Ok although im getting a great coffee now i have been winding the grind in and out for a while and find that when i make the grind a little finer and tamp with a not too lite nor not to heavy pressure i can get two 30ml shots in around 25-30 seconds but the taste is a bit flat and weak in my flat whites so making the grind more coarse i need to put quite a bit of force in the tamp to get similar timings with the shots and better taste ???
This all makes me think that seeing my boiler pressure as high as 1.5 Bar the group water temp may not be ideal.
Do you think i should lower the boiler pressure and try a firm not forceful tamp with a similar grind as i was used too with my previous Silvia and see if i can get the awesome shots im used too?
P.S I only upgraded to an HX machine because i have a regular request for coffees at my place for anywhere up to 7 people on most weekends and it took me forever to supply everyone

    Hello again
The temerature should not have a large influence on the grind (not at the variables we are talking here anyway), that is more to do with pump pressure. The most important thing is the result you are getting in the cup. If the machine is producing good coffee you should not need to change things too much, just by small increments
