  • Cuadra by La Nuova Era vs Expobar Office eb-61

Ok ive decided its time to get a decent machine..

Ive got the option to get a brand new Cuadra by La Nuova Era or a second hand Expobar Office E61 Leva (they are roughly the same cost)..

I like that the Cuadra comes with 2 years warranty and most the reviews seem pretty decent..

    please help me decide snobs

Id suggest the eb-61 leva. See http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1246415338

I would have thought that new prices were similar?

Re: Cuadra by La Nuova Era vs Expobar Office eb-61

Comparing to the Expobar Office Leva, the Cuadra has a bigger boiler, more Watts, and a larger water tank.

If the prices are similar, wouldnt you rather have a brandnew machine out of the box, instead of a used machine of which you cant be sure about the machines history and no warranty?

(Besides, I believe youre pretty close to our service center, so that would definately be a plus in my opinion )

*Edit - Im not sure about the wattage actually. Some of the snobs sponsor sites mention the machine has 1250W, others say 2000W)

I love it! GOLD Very interesting discussion and extra entertainment for all of us to watch Site Sponsors kinda-sorta tactfully promoting their wares. The car analogy may have been better delivered using Italian (Cuadra) and Spanish (Expobar) vehicles but none the less... GOLD! ;D

The only Spanish car brand I know is Seat. Although its owned by VW.

I have a Leva and its been great from day one.

For what its worth, I think the guy that started Expobar was Italian and started the business in Spain for the cheaper labour costs.

Id be inclined to get a new one either way ,my 2c.

go and see the units in the flesh at Espresso Italia if you are local. They seem to have plenty of other units range wise. Having a look is a very very good idea, I bet you wont regret it. If a friendly snob in Perth has an exobar lever they might be able to give you a dem?

Unlike the sparse 2nd hand feedback on the Diamond brand version , the 1st hand feedback on the Cuadra seems to be positive.

Unless you can do some testing of the Exobar or can score a warranty best save up a little tiny bit more perhaps?

Either way I am sure it will end in some more late nights tweaking the machine ;D

                          [edit]Erm, nope....a tad incorrect. The eb-60 is 1.8L 1.5L, 2000W and nominal 3L tank as well.[/edit]

I thought you were offered a 2nd hand one? FWIW, Id suggest $1.3-$1.5k for one in good nick. Call if you want pricing on a new one but there is no reason not to buy a pre-loved one. Drop me a line if you want to arrange for a once over on the machine.

To correct earlier inaccuracies, the Expobar does have a 2000W element and has for the last few years. It also benefits from a 2mm stainless cover. This means that far fewer plastics were killed in the manufacture of the machine.

We dont sell the EB machines, so I resorted to one of the other sitesponsors sites (Jetblackespresso Product Description)

Configuration: Single boiler with heat exchanger
                            Boiler: 1.5 litres
                            Power: 1250 watts
                            Dimensions: 260 mm (w) x 380 mm (h) x 460 mm (d)
                            Weight: 25kg
                            Water tank: 2.9 litres

So can anyone clear up the confusion ?

The tanks in both machines are identical.
