    Re: My coffee story

So sad, Java Junkie. My condolences, it is a very hard thing to be parted from friends. I guess your enjoyment of home espresso is just one of the good things your friend brought to the world during his life.

    My coffee story

There doesnt seem to be a good place to do this (although mods, feel free to move this) but if you bear with my very first post you might agree this is appropriate.

Hi. Ive been a lurker here for two years (sorry!). I got into home brewed coffee through a good friend who told me at that time that his always excellent coffee had just got an upgrade because his espresso machine had died and he had, with the not overwhelming support of his other half, gone out and bought a 2.5k replacement! She was then tormented with the idea of the "$50 coffees" they were drinking and I said if I remember not to worry, they will soon be $20 coffees!

Anyway, I asked my mate if there was a sane, entry level to this world, and he said that he had heard good reports about the Sunbeam (6910) for a "mere" $700 and I said well Im not paying that for coffee ... and then I looked on eBay ...

So. 2 years later, a 6910 (a very good suggestion) a 0450 Grinder, quite a deal of experience with a Crazy Popper roaster and a growing collection of green beans (thanks Andy) later I say hi!

Why here? Well, on New Years Day, my mate went for his regular Saturday morning bike ride with friends ... I wont burden you with the details but thanks to a freak, senseless accident involving the guy in front of him swerving to miss a wallaby ... my friend has drunk his last cappuccino ...

So, when I upgrade this year (my heart is currently set on a Diadema Junior Extra - slightly ahead of my mates Giotto) the very first shot, and perhaps your next, ... should be raised ... for Mark.

Working...
