if you had to rate and compare them, besides emotion, why go the extra $1200 and buy the duetto and not the Expobar Minore III ?
    Or....

The new Diadema "Junior Extra" Dual Boiler with PID Control and other features. A very classy machine in all areas that count.... 8-)

    Mal.

Hi Mal - can you point me to a review or discussion thread on the Junior Extra with dual boiler and PID? The ones I could find only discusses the one without any of those blings! It now all comes down to Minore IV and Junior Extra now.

    Thanks,
    Darryl.

Daryl, the Junior Extra PID has only been released in the last few months so I dont know if any snobs have one - but you can read Mals excellent review of his Extra here:

      http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1163235000

The PID just makes it better with the ability to adjust the brew temperature.

If I were spending the money, Id go for the Diadema.

      Cheers

          Why so?

TalkCoffees listed price for an Izzo Alex Duetto II is $3699, while for the Diadema Junior Extra Dual Boiler PID is going for about $3300. The Expobar Minore IV is about $2805.

Because the Diademas only $400 cheaper than the Alex Duetto II, if the amount payable isnt too much of a burden, wouldnt it wiser to take the Alex Duetto II instead?

Im still not sure why the Diadema is your preferred option over the Expobar. Will you be kind enough to elaborate further?

Hi Darryl, I was answering the question above - i.e. Expobar vs Diadema.

I havent used either but again having read heaps on this forum (and seeing both in the flesh) I would personally go for the Diadema, because of its looks, other Snobs recommendations, and particuarly because I know that Attilio at Cosmorex goes to a lot of trouble to work with the manufacturers to get the Diadema right.

The Diadema just looks like its a little more solid than the Expobar.

But again, this is just my personal opinion. You might be better off hearing from Expobar owners - Im sure there are plenty out there who are happy with their purchase.

The Alex Duetto vs the Diadema Junior Extra PID is a much harder choice to call. Chris at Talk Coffee puts a lot of support behind the Duetto, and ultimately it would a very personal choice.

I probably would go for the Duetto, just to get the benefit of the quietness of the rotary pump, plus the added benefit of the ability to plumb in.

And, just to throw a spanner in your works, consider the new Breville Dual Boiler thats being released soon too. A technical tour de force, with dual boilers and PID control, for half the price of your other candidates....

And thats good enough reason Sniff,

For mine, nothing comes close to the finish of Diadema gear. They just do it so well. The PID Diadema uses a smaller brew boiler than the Minore as well which I think is a good idea so as to turn the brew water over more rapidly.

The Minore is a tank and looks better in IV configuration than it ever has. Its well built, but boxier than the Diadema.

Both great machines and as always, horses for courses. You choose the one you prefer. The Alex Duetto adds a rotary pump and is super quiet. Build quality is very impressive as well.
