  • Domus Galatea mushroom removal - how to?

Hi all can some of the experts here give me a quick rundown on how to remove the mushroom on a Bezzera Domus Galatea to check for scale buildup?

I suspet it is as simple as undoing one of the two large nuts on the group head and pulling up.

That said however I am suspicious of the fact that there are two hex heads, one on top of the other and the top one has a rubber gasket that looks vaguely like a bleeding screw.

This is my concern - if this i what it looks like then I want to make sure how the bleeding process is performed before I just go ahead and rip out the mushroom and end up with a airlock.

So am I right and that top bolt is for bleeding, or is it just a trick and if so what are the two nuts for?

    Thanks in advance
    Anthony

Yes I found that post from chris and did exactly that last night. I just wanted to check what the state of the mushroom was and was weary of that second bolt which looked to me like some sort of bleeding mechanism (what with it being the highest point in system too).

Anyway I removed the mushroom and was surprised that the scal was not as bad as expected considering that the machine has never been descaled in the three years that I have owned it.
