BS detector alert. I call bollocks on that. Stress testing a boiler can only happen under substantial pressure and would require removal of the boiler.

Assuming that they did actually remember to empty the tank, the machine was most likely run up on a bench to check it actually worked and the boiler remained filled as per usual. If a machine was flying, I'd be draining the boiler.

Those responsible for freight probably shipped it on its side or inverted at some point of the journey. Alternately, they employed the services of a stunt pilot.

Re fine tuning, it's most likely set to run hot to suit the coffee in its native country.

just a point to note for those who might be keen on importing an anita from CI like I did.

the quickmill anitas sold in the US have been modified by chris from chris coffee and are quite different from the ones sold directly from quickmill IT.

mine came with antiburn wands and non-compression knobs similar to those on the andreja premium, which are strangely not reflected on the official quickmill tech specs for the anita...

the chris coffee anita has an easy access OPV adjustment screwhead and an extra 'fill' switch that aren't featured on mine, but don't have aforementioned antiburn wands and knobs which would likely fetch a higher premium.

edit: now come to think of it, it feels like they've sent me an andreja premium with an anita drip tray...not that im complaining

If you haven't actually tampered with it, I am not sure they could use a broken seal to get out of statutory warranty...

I'd be waiting for it to dry out, putting the shell back on and, if it doesn't work, never mentioning that you took it off. No sense in giving an excuse, whatever the risk....

That said, i couldn't wait to try out my shiny (literally) new toy and decided to blowdry its innards as best i could and waited 2 hrs. thereafter, I plugged it in and it worked perfectly fine. Guess I was worrying too much.

fine tuning anita is tougher than i thought!

Should be fine once dry though, I suspect.

My Anita came in the post today...drenched

    Hi CS'ers,

Purchased a Quickmill Anita from coffeeitalia a week ago and it arrived via fedex today.

Packing and everything was great, double boxed with lotsa styrofoam for padding, the box didn't look like it was left in the rain or mistreated either.

However, when I took it out from the box I realise the machine was noticeably wet with water. The resevoir was empty so I removed the stainless steel shell to check that it was at least dry inside...a finger swipe on the wiring felt damp, very similar to condensation. But the outside was way too wet to be condensation based on my judgment.

Don't have the guts to hook it up to the mains until it dries out.

Any astute CS'er able to solve the mystery? My best guesses are:

    1) The guys at CI carelessly shipped the machine with water in the reservoir after testing it, causing spillage
    2) Fedex left the package exposed to wet weather conditions, although the box looks to be in good nick
    3) Condensation on stainless steel from it's plane trip across the globe

    Any help would be appreciated!
Working...
