As long as you really got a Minore III, it sounds like a good deal.
Minore III - Dual boiler, cool touch wand, metal toggle switch for on/off. Red LED display (smaller than Minore I and II display) and PID.
Yep - it is certainly a heavy beast (30Kg) and hopefully it will serve you well.
Good luck and let us know how you go with it.

Hi Guys,
I ended up with a used Minore III (Stamp says "leva" not "Office Leva Stamp"). Thanks for all your inputs
. Such a heavy machine as I was struggling to carry it to the car and to the house.

It's amazing how easy it is to get answers, once all the info is posted. ;-D

Exactly 12 months older than my Leva.
I agree with Brett re the mushroom.
My service guy displays a mushroom he replaced on my machine to show how bad they can get.
You can't judge a book or coffee machine by its cover.

April 2007 according to the sticker.
I'd say it's a Minore II. 10 months younger than mine.
I must say I'd never read my sticker in full either, but it does indeed say very much the same stuff apart from date of fabrication and serial number.
I believe the Minore/Brewtus I did not have the cool touch wand.
As to worth $1000... I'd say yes if it is making good coffee. I'd be checking the mushroom for scale level if at all possible before forking over money though.

It's an early Minore (Brewtus). $1000- too much IMHO. It could date back to 2006.Originally posted by kaitan View Posthere is the machine
I'd think $600-800 condition dependent. You'd be looking Minore II (gicar PID and rocker power) or III (Gicar PID and metal toggle power) at $1k and above....

Oops just noticed auto correct at work ( post#13)........."The BeanBay review" should be Bella Barista review; apologies.
To clear up any confusion about what the seller is offering you would need to eyeball the machine and take the top cover off to see the insides, as per the Bella Barista review,
( and use it, as Brett suggests) or at least have photos of the inside showing the number of boilers and the general condition of the machine.
Can you post the pics the seller has sent you? Someone like Brett may be able to verify which machine it is.
I wouldn't be overly concerned about the name of the machine as it's not uncommon for the exact same build to have different names,
according to which market it is. More importantly, for you, it seems to be whether or not it's the single or double boiler machine. (??)
Brett offers good advice in the above post.Last edited by chokkidog; 6 December 2013, 07:56 PM.

That machine at that time... certainly.Originally posted by kaitan View PostHi Brett,
Thanks for your input. Yeah I can't seem to find anything that says office leva2 is aka brewtus or minore II. Having said that like i said with my previous post the person that reviews brewtus iii, have a stamp stating office leva 2 page 7/18. So it is really confusing.
If you have a choice again would you still buy the minore ii?
I tried out a couple of others at the time. The 'Makin' Maver was around at that point too. Ultimately I went for the Minore II at the time as Chris had an ex-demo that had done around 20 shots for a very good price, and I liked how it felt when I made coffee with it.
If I was buying a new or replacement machine today, I would personally lean towards the Bezzerra Domus Galatea. I like the design. However, I would still do what has been suggested to people time and time again on this forum: Go to a retailer and see if you can actually test drive some of the machines. It's a fair investment and you don't want to end up with a machine that has a small (or big) thing that annoys you every time you make coffee. It could be the size of the drip tray, the position of a gague or how the steam wand works for you. And then... buy the machine off the person who helped you out.
I know, this might not seem helpful for second hand purchases, but you might find that the second hand machine is not operating as wonderfully as the seller might indicate.
I certainly would like to try and make a coffee on the 2nd hand machine before I bought it (if possible).
Brett.

5 yo ...........7/10 (whose rating?)..............service history?.............water filtration/scale?.........uncertain of what model it is?
$1000?
Not for me.
The BB review isn't confusing when you read the intro........... first sentence.

Hi Brett,Originally posted by fatboy_1999 View PostWell I have a Minore II which is also known as the Brewtus II. I have not heard it referred to as a Leva2 before, but it is definately a dual boiler, cool touch wand without PID.
Minore III added a PID and a different power switch I believe and Minore IV might have changed the type of PID in use.
I did use a Minore III a while back and thought that it had better steam power and recovery than my model.
I have had my Minore II since 2006 (purchased from Talk Coffee) and have had a couple of issues over the journey, but nothing particularly serious. Control board failing was probably the worst of it, but was fixed for ~$100 a few years back.
Had it in for a service a while back (seals, o-rings and NOT A DESCALE) and it came back feeling like it was new again. I have a Brita C150 water filtration kit, so the machine is pretty good from a scale perspective.
So personally, very happy with my Minore II and have been producing great coffee on it (so modest) for 7 years now.
Brett.
