    That would be the one.

Is it possible to replace the sides on the Giotto to make something more compact?
Anything is possible- most likely at a prohibitive cost in this case

We're currently doing up a classic for a bloke who upgraded to an Alex Duetto. Tank conversion to current design and all key seals etc (the original design was not that great).

That will be dependent on how you treat it.

These things are grandpa's axe. In time you will probably replace items such as pump, solenoid, pressurestat et al. All are relatively cheap.

    Cheers

Thanks for the feedback. Given that the machine is in Melbourne and I am in Newcastle, I would not be able to test it out properly.

On the second question, how long would I get out of a machine like that if I was able to get him to lower his price?

    Thanks again for your help

He has more realistic expectations on price than that.

My call? $600-1000 dependent on condition.

How much to pay for an ECM Giotto Classic?

    Hi

I am currently a Gaggia Classic user looking to upgrade. I know someone who is selling an ECM Giotto Classic for $1200, but it is 10yrs old. Is this an acceptable price? If not, what is?
Also, being ten yrs old, how much longer would I expect to get out of a machine like this?

Thanks in advance for your help. I have been viewing this site for a while now trying to refine my skills on the Gaggia Classic and have found it invaluable.
