Ill Chev, god choice. Jetblack is in Frenchs Forest, not a very convenient spot without a car and 30 minutes past the Harbour Bridge even in a car. Maybe Di Bortoli, they are on the south side of Sydney, they may do courses.

Dear 338, Thank you for advise. Unfortunately, Jetblack is in North Sydney and my kids live in very South Sydney. It is may be a challenge to get across all Sydney for the 2.5 hours course that cost normally $159pp. quote from Jetblack: "our 2.5hrs barista course is normally $159 pp"

Ill Chev, have done the Jetblack course, they will set you up with a similar machine if possible. When I did the course they were held on a Saturday morning and great way to get a good working knowledge of your machine. Think the Tafe course MIPL did was even cheaper at $50 and 3 days, about $3 an hour for training!

Dear CafeLotta, Thank you very much for the advise. I will be in Sydney for a week in the beginning of July and check for TAFE courses they have. May be will visit coffee parts and/or jetblack espresso. I think they also run some short training, like short barista course. Cheers

Dear 338, Thank you very much for the coffee snobs info. Have red it with big interest. I am not sure that we have now such good price of $50 FOR 3 DAYS!
Great info. Cheers

I suppose it depends on how comfortable you are with your current experience in Coffee Brewing. You may find that reading through the Espresso making links provided earlier gives you all the information you need to develop your skills. Sometimes it can be easier to see a demonstration in front of you and ask questions as you go along. The courses shown in links seem to cover all the basics as well as additional info for people in retail. You could always speak to the people running the courses and discuss whether they cover the areas you are particularly interested in. Due to your location in Shepparton, the options no doubt are limited for hands-on espresso making coaching.Originally posted by ilichev View PostDear CafeLotta, Thanks again for the info about TAFE courses. I try to understand what these courses could give me. I am not going to be the barista and work in cafe before my retirement in 2 years time.

Ill Chev, here is a great review by mipl about what to expect - https://coffeesnobs.com.au/general-c...so-course.html There are also 218 other threads when you use tafe as a search word but mipl's review is good to get the idea.

Dear CafeLotta, Thanks again for the info about TAFE courses. I try to understand what these courses could give me. I am not going to be the barista and work in cafe before my retirement in 2 years time. Do you know anybody who did similar courses? May be you did any? Would be very useful to have any feedback.Originally posted by CafeLotta View PostI missed that one, sorry.
I did find this in Shepparton - https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/leve...ts-57962316850 - might be worth investigating maybe?

I will investigate these TAFE courses. I am also reading very carefully the TUTORIALS suggested. Finally I have the info what I was looking for. I have some books about coffee, but not books how to make good espresso shot.

Dear Barry, My answer is NO. Initially when I bought Quick Mill carolla the price was looking very expensive for me after having espresso auto machines for a max of $500. That was the big leap for me of about $1000. Unfortunately, my Quick Mill had a problem with pump, and I was able to return it and get full refund. After my short experience with real E61 and 10 bar espresso single boiler machine I realized that I need to spend much more to have a reliable, long-lasting and well designed espresso machine. I bought ECM classika PID from Jetblack and very happy so far. (That why I confused many coffee snobs when asked about "the cheapest E61 single boiler espresso machine"). I ended spending more money, but bought reliable and hope long-lasting ECM classika.Originally posted by Barry O'Speedwagon View PostSo you bought the Quick Mill and the ECM?

I know Terminus hotel, but I did not know that Greg started GB coffee. Yest I mentioned GB coffee near CFA depo, but unfortunately GB coffee increased price and decreased quality of coffee (They had good PNG Goroka that i like).Originally posted by magnafunk View PostJust a quick derail, the coffee at the terminus hotel is very good when Greg the owner is working. He actually started GB coffee if that's the place you were referring to, they no longer own it.

So you bought the Quick Mill and the ECM?Originally posted by ilichev View PostHi Yelta, Thank you for advice. When I bought my first Quick Mill Carolla in May, I also bought leveling distribution tool. I found it very useful because it gives me the standard pressing power and depth.
